Tianliao Cold Spring Area (Tianliao Flower Season Resort) Introduction
The history of Tianliao Cold Spring is quite long. In the early years, the soil in Tianliao District was barren, and there was a lack of water sources. Local residents discovered cold springs gushing from rock crevices, leading them to live near the water and use the cold spring for their livelihoods and irrigation, making this precious carbonated cold spring the source of life for the Tianliao District. When the Japanese military came to Taiwan and stationed here, they discovered that this was one of the rare carbonated cold springs in the world and established a police sanatorium in the cold spring area, forming the bath culture of this place. Tianliao Cold Spring is a naturally occurring sodium bicarbonate spring with a pH value of 7 and an average water temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. It is a low-temperature spring with transparent, colorless water that has a slight sulfur smell. During the Japanese colonial period, people had already begun using the hot spring for bathing, and due to its pure and warm quality, it is known as the beauty skin hot spring. Moreover, it is the only area in southern Taiwan with cold springs.
