Dagang Mountain Chaofeng Temple Introduction
Chao Feng Temple is located in Gangshan Village, Alian District, Kaohsiung City, at the peak of Dagang Mountain. It offers a vast and unobstructed view of the Alian urban area and the plains below. Established in the 28th year of the Qianlong reign (1763), Chao Feng Temple has a history of 250 years and is one of the earliest centers of Buddhism in southern Taiwan, primarily dedicated to Avalokiteshvara. It is currently listed as a second-class historical site with significant historical value. The temple grounds are extensive, featuring the Western Three Saints Hall, Avalokiteshvara Hall, Deng Miaojue Gate, Little Snow Field, and Tiger Banyan, among others. Outside the temple, there are Cihang Pudu Pool and a shopping street. Walking along the path allows visitors to appreciate the scenery of Dagang Mountain, with views extending from Cijin to the Taiwan Strait during the day, enjoying sunset hues in the evening, and a million-dollar night view illuminated by countless lights at night. It is a must-visit spot for tourists coming to Gangshan.
