Jiasian Fossil Museum (Closed) Introduction
Located in the northeast of Kaohsiung City, Jiasian District not only produces taro and bamboo shoots but also features a geology almost entirely composed of marine sedimentary rock, with nine major fossil areas throughout the district. The nearby Nanzihsianc Creek is a fossil haven where visitors can directly experience the fun of fossil collecting. This unique geological background has led to the establishment of the Jiasian Fossil Museum. The museum primarily exhibits the ecological remains of fish and shellfish from Taiwan's inland sea, divided into four display areas: Jiasian Ongong Conch Fossil Museum, local fossils from Jiasian, fossils from various places in Taiwan categorized by age, and world fossils. With a collection of over 6,000 specimens, it has become a key regional specialized museum, possessing significant academic and tourism value. For those who love to appreciate and study fossil remains, the Jiasian Fossil Museum is an unmissable attraction.
