Kaohsiung Mosque Introduction
Kaohsiung Mosque is the second mosque in Taiwan, established in 1949 by Muslims among the military, government, and educational personnel who relocated with the government to Taiwan. It was funded by their initiatives due to the insufficient capacity for the increasing number of worshippers. Construction of the current larger mosque began in 1990. The exterior of Kaohsiung Mosque features a typical Islamic architectural style, with a fresh green square building, a circular dome, a minaret, and a spacious, bright prayer hall inside. It is the largest center of Islamic faith in southern Taiwan.
