Fengyi Academy Introduction
Fengyi Study, located next to Chenghuang Temple, was established in 1814 and designated as a Category III historic site in 1985. It was built by Zhang Ting-qin, a candidate for the teaching position in Fengshan. At that time, there were 37 rooms, and the courtyard originally housed worship altars for Wenchang, Kuichang, and Cangsheng, along with tables and chairs, serving as a place for scholars to study for the imperial examination. The architectural details are meticulously crafted, making it the largest existing study in Taiwan. The screen wall in front of the study's entrance and the stone drums on both sides of the main gate showcase the careful design considerations made during its initial construction. After renovations planned in 2009, the campus added many Q-version statues and planned two exhibition spaces, providing detailed introductions to the history of the study and its artifacts, making it both educational and entertaining.
