Fengyi Academy Introduction
Fengyi Academy, located next to Chenghuang Temple, was built in 1814 and designated as a third-class historic site in 1985. It was constructed by Zhang Tingqin, a candidate for the Fengshan instructional position. At that time, it had 37 rooms, and the courtyard originally enshrined the deities of Wenchang, Kuichang, and Cangsheng, as well as tables and chairs, serving as a place for students to study for their examinations in ancient times. The architectural details are meticulously crafted, making it the largest existing academy in Taiwan. The screen wall in front of the academy's main hall and the stone drums on both sides of the main entrance demonstrate the careful consideration in the academy's original architectural design. After planning and renovation in 2009, the park added many Q-version statues and planned two exhibition spaces to provide detailed introductions to the history and artifacts of the academy, integrating education with entertainment.
