Fengyi Academy Introduction
Located next to Chenghuang Temple, Fengyi Academy was built in 1814 and was designated as a third-level historic site in 1985. It was constructed by Zhang Tingqin, a candidate for the Fengshan educational inspectorate. At that time, the academy had 37 rooms, and the courtyard originally housed the deities Wenchang, Kuichang, and Cangsheng, along with desks and chairs, serving as a place for students to study and take exams in ancient times. The architectural details are meticulous, making it the largest existing academy in Taiwan. The screen wall in front of the academy's hall and the stone drums on both sides of the main entrance demonstrate the careful design considerations of Fengyi Academy at the time of its construction. After renovation in 2009, the park added many cute figurines and planned two exhibition spaces to provide detailed introductions to the academy's history and artifacts, combining education with entertainment.
