Fengshan Tiangong Temple Introduction

The splendid "Fengyi Yuhuang Temple," commonly known as the Fengshan Tian Gong Temple, was established in 1798 and is located between Guangming Road and Zhongzheng Road in Fengshan District. The main deity is the Jade Emperor. Initially a simple earthen structure with thatched roofing, due to its rustic authenticity and efficacy, it gradually gained popularity and expanded to the grand scale seen today. The temple features a two-story Southern Chinese palace-style architecture, adorned with intricate carvings and a magnificent atmosphere. The temple's roof is embellished with the three deities of Good Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity, along with a pair of dragon towers in a lively display of dragons playing with a phoenix. The craftsmanship of the colorful glazed tiles is exquisite and eye-catching. Inside the temple, the most famous features are the inscription plaque promoting moral values and the vividly depicted images of various deities inlaid with jade. The wooden and stone sculptures throughout are equally impressive, creating a rich atmosphere of religious art. Beyond providing spiritual protection, the Tian Gong Temple is also known for its philanthropic efforts in the Fengshan area, including establishing a library and offering scholarships to help underprivileged local students and aid in disaster relief, thus attracting countless devotees.
