Mangrove Rhizophora Protected Area Introduction

The Mangrove Ecological Reserve is located at the estuary of the Dianbao River in the Zihguan District. The convergence of freshwater from nearby fish ponds and tidal seawater creates a wetland environment that supports the growth of mangrove plants such as Avicennia marina, Aegiceras corniculatum, and the precious Xylocarpus granatum. Because mangroves protect coastlines, conserve water sources, and provide habitats for various species, they have a profound impact on the ecological environment. Therefore, the government designated this area as a protected zone in 1992 and entrusted its management to Keelung Junior High School, planning it as a Mangrove Teaching Area. The area features wooden boardwalks and observation platforms with regular guided tours, making it an ideal spot to enjoy natural beauty in a tranquil environment, as well as to observe the ecology of mangrove species and birdwatching.
