Mangrove Ecology Reserve of Qidong Creek Introduction
The Mangrove Kandelia Cove Protected Area is located at the estuary of the Dian Bao River in the Cizguang District. The freshwater released from nearby fish ponds and the tidal seawater converge in the wetland, providing a growing environment for mangrove plants such as Kandelia obovata, Acanthus ebracteatus, and the precious Hanguang pear. Due to the role of mangroves in protecting coastlines, conserving water sources, and providing habitats for various species, the government designated this area as a protected zone in 1992 and entrusted its management to the Kealia Junior High School, planning it as a mangrove education park. The park features wooden walkways and observation decks, with regular guided tours available. It not only allows visitors to appreciate the natural beauty in a tranquil environment but also serves as an excellent location for observing mangrove species ecology and birdwatching.
