Tian Gong Kai Wu - R23 Qiaotou Station Introduction
To continue the theme of "Making Friends with the World through Art" in Kaohsiung Metro, the Ciaotou Metro Station commissioned Dr. Chu Bang-hsiung from Meinong Kiln to create a public art piece featuring a ceramic wall. This large ceramic wall artwork, located at Exit 2, measures 9 meters wide and 12 meters tall, and is named "Tian Gong Kai Wu" (Heavenly Skills in Action). The artwork is composed of 1,311 ceramic plates and used over 70 tons of clay. The geometric shapes that run through the center symbolize the abstract consciousness of urban construction, while the ends represent the fertile land that produces sugarcane. The train carrying sugarcane traverses the Ciaotou landscape, parting the clouds and ushering in Taiwan's era of modernization. "Tian Gong Kai Wu," an awe-inspiring masterpiece, serves as the artist's homage to the land and a beautiful tribute to Ciaotou.
