Kangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction

The Kaohsiung 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the 228 Incident. Within the park, there is a two-story Peace Dove Monument composed of five doves, symbolizing the shared fate of Taiwan's five major ethnic groups and expressing the meaning of justice and peace. The park's main entrance axis retains an iconic plaza with a chime, a multifunctional cultural plaza, and the memorial landscape hill, serving as a historical arts and cultural corridor. On both sides of the multifunctional plaza, seasonal trees are planted, integrating with the existing tree canopy space, leading to internal and external circular walking paths. The forest walking area features distinctive play zones and fitness activity areas. By preserving the existing shaded vegetation, the park aims to reshape a recreational area with significant commemorative meaning.
