Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction

The A Number 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan constructed to commemorate the February 28 Incident. The park features a two-story Peace Dove Monument, sculpted from five doves, symbolizing the shared destiny of Taiwan's five major ethnic groups, expressing the significance of justice and peace. The design retains the image of the entrance bell tower plaza along the main entrance axis, a multifunctional cultural plaza space, and the landscape hill of the monument, serving as a historical and cultural corridor. Flanking the multifunctional plaza are seasonal hardwood trees, which integrate with the existing green spaces, leading to internal and external circular walking paths. The forest walking area includes unique play areas and fitness zones, while preserving the existing shaded vegetation, creating a recreational park with commemorative significance.
