Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction
The Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the February 28 Incident. Inside the park, there is a two-story Peace Dove Monument, made up of five doves, symbolizing the shared destiny of Taiwan's five major ethnic groups and expressing the meaning of justice and peace. The park's design keeps the image of the entrance bell tower plaza, multifunctional cultural plaza space, and the landscape mound of the memorial as the historical art and cultural corridor along the main entrance axis. On both sides of the multifunctional plaza, seasonal deciduous trees are planted, integrating with the existing forested areas. This leads to the internal and external circular walking paths. The forest walking area features special play zones and fitness activity areas and through preserving the existing shaded vegetation, it reshapes the recreational park with significant commemorative meaning.
