Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction
The Jiangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the 228 Incident. The park features a two-story Peace Dove Monument, composed of five peace doves, symbolizing the community of fate among Taiwan's five major ethnic groups and expressing the significance of justice and peace. The main entrance axis of the park retains the image of the entrance chime bell square, a multifunctional cultural plaza, and the memorial landscape hill, serving as a historical and cultural corridor. Seasonal trees are planted on both sides of the multifunctional plaza, integrating the existing tree canopy space and leading into a circular walking path within and outside the park. The forest walking area includes distinctive play areas and fitness activity zones, and the park is redesigned as a recreational space with commemorative significance, while preserving the existing tree-lined plantings.
