Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction
The Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the 228 Incident. Within the park, there is a two-story Peace Dove Monument, created from five doves, symbolizing the fateful community of Taiwan’s five major ethnic groups, expressing the meanings of justice and peace. The park's main entrance axis retains the entrance bell tower-themed square, a multifunctional cultural square space, and a memorial hill landscape, serving as a historical and artistic corridor. On both sides of the multifunctional square, seasonal broadleaf trees are planted, integrating with the existing tree canopy space, introducing internal and external circular walking paths. The forest walking area features distinct play areas and fitness activity zones, revitalizing the park into a recreational area with significant commemorative value by preserving the existing shaded tree plantings.
