Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction
The Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the 228 Incident. Within the park stands a two-story Peace Dove Monument, formed by five doves, symbolizing the shared fate of Taiwan's five major ethnic groups and expressing the meanings of justice and peace. The park design retains the entrance bell tower imagery square, a multifunctional cultural square space, and a monument landscape hill along the main entrance axis, serving as a historical and cultural corridor. On both sides of the multifunctional square, seasonal deciduous trees are planted, integrating the existing wooded areas and leading to a circular walking path within and outside the park. The forested leisure area features distinctive play areas and fitness activity zones, reconstituting it as a commemorative and recreational park through the preservation of existing shaded vegetation.
