Gangshan 228 Peace Memorial Park Introduction

The Kaohsiung 228 Peace Memorial Park is the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the February 28 Incident. Inside the park, there stands a two-story Peace Dove Monument, crafted from five doves, symbolizing the shared destiny of Taiwan's five major ethnic groups and expressing the significance of justice and peace. The park's design preserves the entrance bell tower plaza along the main entrance axis, featuring a multifunctional cultural plaza and a memorial hill landscape, serving as a historical and cultural corridor. On both sides of the multifunctional plaza, seasonal trees are planted to integrate with the existing tree canopy, leading to inner and outer circular walking paths. The forest walking area includes distinctive play areas and fitness activity zones, while preserving the existing shaded planting to reshape the park into a meaningful recreational area.
