The "Jiu Gu Jing" located on Alley 17, Zhonghua Road, has been around for over a hundred years. According to Zhang Cuo's elder Zhang Jianxiao, who is over ninety years old (born in the Year of the Rabbit), this well existed before she was born. She recalls seeing her elders using this well to make wine when she was young. At that time, the surrounding area belonged to Zhang Cuo, and it was surrounded by traditional single-story houses. The well is located in a courtyard where everyone would gather to collect water and make wine, which is referred to as "Jiu Gu Zhang" in the local dialect. The water from the well is slightly salty. Another elder, Lady Li Teng, who is also over ninety years old and married into Li Cuo from Zhang Cuo, similarly stated that the Jiu Gu Jing existed before her birth and was dug by Zhang family's ancestors. Her great-grandmother (known as Cha Mu) was involved in winemaking. Both elders mentioned that winemaking was a practice of their great-grandfather's generation, and since they became aware, their families have ceased winemaking and turned to agriculture.
