The "Jiugujing" located on Lane 17, Zhonghua Road has been around for over a hundred years. According to Zhang Cuo's elder Zhang Jianxiao, who is over ninety years old, this well existed before she was born. She recalls seeing her elders using this well to make wine when she was young. At that time, the area was all owned by Zhang Cuo, surrounded by traditional one-story houses, with the well located in the courtyard where everyone would gather to draw water and make wine, which is referred to as "Jiugu Zhang" in the hometown. The water from the well is slightly salty. Another elderly woman, Mrs. Li Teng, who married from Zhang Cuo to Li Cuo and is also over ninety, similarly stated that Jiugujing existed before she was born and was excavated by the Zhang family's ancestors. Her great-grandmother (Grandma Cha) was involved in winemaking from the beginning. Both elders claimed that winemaking was a practice of their great-grandfather's generation, and since they have been aware, their family has not made wine anymore but has turned to farming instead.
