Gourd Carving Art Museum Introduction
Gourd, also known as bottle gourd, is a common crop in rural Taiwan, and its cute and exquisite shape makes it quite lovable. In the 1990s, Shanlin District promoted gourd art creation, which has become a local specialty of Shanlin. Teacher He Ming-hsien has devoted himself to gourd art, putting in a lot of effort to research, continuously challenge, and innovate. He further established the Shanlin Gourd Art Exhibition Hall, which introduces various gourd carving techniques and features a display area for students' works. The Gourd Art Museum continuously subverts traditional perceptions, offering literary-themed series of Tang and Song poetry, mid-to-high-level souvenirs, and practical products such as night lights, pendants, and keychains. It also provides gourd tours, teaching, and DIY gourd experiences, making gourd art creation more diverse and varied.
