Gourd Carving Art Museum Introduction
Gourd, also known as bottle gourd, is a common agricultural product in rural Taiwan. Its cute and exquisite appearance is captivating. In the 1990s, Shanlin District promoted gourd art creation, becoming a local characteristic of Shanlin. Teacher He Ming-hsien is dedicated to the art of gourd creation, investing considerable effort in research, constantly challenging and innovating. He further established the Shanlin Gourd Art Exhibition Hall, which introduces various carving techniques of gourds and features a showcase area for students' works. The Gourd Art Museum continues to subvert traditional perceptions, offering not only a series of Tang poetry and Song lyrics rich in literary flavor and mid-to-high-end souvenirs but also practical nightlight series, pendants, and keychains. Additionally, it provides gourd tours, teaching, and gourd DIY hands-on experiences, making gourd art creation more diverse and variable.
