Gourd Carving Art Museum Introduction
Gourd, also known as calabash, is a common agricultural product in rural Taiwan. Its cute and exquisite appearance makes it hard to resist. In the 1990s, Shanlin District promoted gourd art creation, becoming a local feature of Shanlin. Teacher He Ming-hsien is dedicated to gourd art, investing significant effort in research, constantly challenging and innovating. He further established the Shanlin Gourd Art Exhibition Hall, which introduces various carving techniques and showcases student works. The Gourd Art Museum continues to overturn traditional perceptions, offering not only a series filled with literary charm inspired by Tang poetry and Song lyrics, but also practical night light series, pendants, and keychains. Additionally, it provides gourd tours, workshops, and DIY experiences, making gourd art creation more diverse and varied.
