Huang's Beef Noodle Shop Introduction
Shanlin is the second highest area of Hakka population in Kaohsiung. Located in the Huang Family's kitchen at Yuebei Village, it has a history of over a hundred years, witnessing the process of Hakka ancestors settling and developing Shanlin. The entrance archway has "Filial Piety and Brotherhood" written on the horizontal beam, and "Five Classics, World Ranking" on the back, representing the idea of passing down family virtues through filial piety. This fully demonstrates the Huang family’s adherence to the teachings of their ancestors, encouraging future generations to be friendly to others, respect their elders, and strive for education. The decorative fan on the archway comes from the story of Huang Xiang "fanning the pillow to warm the quilt" in the Twenty-four Filial Exemplars, making it the most well-preserved archway in the Hakka region. The ancient three-in-one courtyard is well-maintained and features a unique feng shui layout resembling a crab's burrow, making it a rare modern historical site. Entering Shanlin from the triangular intersection in Meinong, the small road on the right leads to the starting point of Highway 113-1. Once entering from this point, follow the water canal to the right to reach the century-old mango tree landmark and the continuously flowing crescent pond in front of the Huang Family kitchen. The main hall, "Jiangxia Hall" houses ancestral tablets of the Huang family's generations, along with facilities and buildings such as a laundry area, ancient well, and a shrine for the earth deity.
