After the 921 earthquake, Nantou Theater endured ten years of losses, yet the family chose to continue its operation. The third-generation operators continue their grandmother's spirit of "giving back to the community," striving to transform the theater into a central hub for local culture and economy. The management team upholds the philosophy of "coexistence of the old and the new," preserving the theater's historical value while redefining the movie-watching experience through innovative activities and topics, making Nantou Theater a representative of cultural heritage and innovation. In the past four years of third-generation succession, the theater has allowed traditional culture to interact with the public through activities like "Deities Watching Movies" and "Conversations Between Filmmakers and Locals." From environmental education like "The Salamander Has Arrived" and "The Disappearing Purple Butterfly" to promoting local culture like "The Heavenly Emperor on the Roof," it connects local stories, community resources, and movie-watching activities in innovative ways, attracting coverage from dozens of media outlets and millions of social media interactions. The theater's efforts are also reflected in its box office performance and community support. When the theater announced a ticket price adjustment, local residents spontaneously called for "raise it more, so the theater can continue to exist," demonstrating the strong feelings and support the community holds for this century-old theater.
