Tengshan Trail Introduction

Yuanlin Tengshan Trail is a popular hiking trail on Bagua Mountain, located in the Baiguoshan Scenic Area in Yuanlin, Changhua, near the Nantou border. The trail is lush with vegetation, providing ample shade. It is approximately 2 kilometers long, with a wide and gentle slope, making it suitable for family activities. Along the way, there are wooden signs featuring many classical and interesting words, including unique triplicated characters, integrated idioms, and intriguing idiomatic expressions in Taiwanese. These playful descriptions, such as "dim sum cart at a restaurant," metaphorically depict the scenario of shifting responsibilities. Walking along the trail and contemplating these meanings offers a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture, making it a great educational and recreational experience for families. During spring and summer, the snowy white tung flowers blanket the valley, adding beauty to the greenery. The gentle breeze causes petals to fall, creating a snow-like spectacle, attracting nearly 200,000 visitors each April for flower viewing. There are many viewing platforms along the trail for resting, with Yuan-Shi Pavilion offering close-up flower viewing and excellent panoramic views of the cityscape. Here, one can occasionally see lychee orchards and pineapple fields, adding rural scenery; the text on the wooden signs also adds a literary touch to the trail. In spring and summer, it becomes a prominent tung flower viewing spot in Changhua, often hosting events like the Hakka Tung Flower Festival. This trail is not only a place for hiking and leisure but also imbued with an artistic atmosphere.
