Bamboo Tea House and Sweet Potato Uncle Introduction
In the 1997, the government encouraged farmers to transform their practices. Zhuang Qianjin, the head of the sweet potato production and marketing team, began working on the preservation of Hakka culture in 1999. Using the superb bamboo weaving skills learned from farming, he established a bamboo weaving exhibition hall to preserve Hakka culture. His entire family became involved in managing the rural ecological tourism at Zhu Yu Tea Loft. The itinerary includes Hakka culture, family history, architecture tours, exhibitions of old farming tools, a bullock cart journey, as well as classes on baking sweet potatoes, straw weaving, and bamboo weaving. In the future, there are hopes to expand into a homestay business, making Nanpu a representative destination for rural agricultural tourism.
