Pu Yuan Art Space Introduction
Twenty years ago, we embraced a dream and, with a passion for bamboo, followed its traces to the hometown of bamboo, Zhushan, to begin creating a dream centered around bamboo. Bamboo, in addition to showcasing its elegant and extraordinary qualities in the writings of ancient literati, is closely related to daily life, with common items made from it. However, early bamboo products were often crudely made and difficult to preserve for long-term use. Therefore, Pu Yuan broke through the barriers of bamboo usage by attempting to integrate high-tech techniques with traditional craftsmanship to produce laminated bamboo furniture. At that time, the intricate craftsmanship and higher costs made it difficult to compete with wood furniture. Despite these setbacks, Pu Yuan continued to hold onto its love for bamboo. Ten years ago, various types of bamboo such as Moso bamboo, Guadua bamboo, square bamboo, and purple bamboo were used in forms such as bamboo weaving, bamboo carving, split bamboo, laminated bamboo, and raw bamboo to fully showcase the possibilities of bamboo in household products, such as bamboo lamps, bamboo curtains, tea sets, flower vases, stationery, and other home decor items, as well as bamboo landscape installation art, and materials for flooring, wall panels, and ceilings. Furthermore, we invited Master Chen Gao-Ming, a bamboo craft expert, to serve as Pu Yuan's technical advisor, hoping to lead another wave of natural-oriented interior decoration trends in the near future. Thanks to ten years of dedicated management, the products developed by Pu Yuan have received the Excellence Award at the Life Goods Selection Exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
