Pu Yuan Art Studio Introduction
Twenty years ago, we embraced a dream fueled by our love for bamboo, and followed its traces to its hometown, Zhushan, where we began to build a bamboo dream. Bamboo, besides showcasing its elegant and extraordinary character in the writings of ancient scholars, also played a significant role in the daily lives of common people, being crafted into essential living items. However, early bamboo products were often crude and difficult to preserve, making long-term use a challenge. Therefore, Puyuan broke through the limitations of bamboo applications, attempting to combine high-tech methods with traditional craftsmanship to produce laminated bamboo furniture. At that time, due to the complexity of the craftsmanship and the high costs, it was unable to compete with wooden furniture. Despite these setbacks, Puyuan continued to uphold its love for bamboo. Ten years ago, using various bamboo materials such as Moso bamboo, fragrant bamboo, square bamboo, and purple bamboo, we showcased the diverse possibilities of bamboo through bamboo weaving, carving, splitting, laminated bamboo, and raw bamboo in our household products, including bamboo lamps, bamboo curtains, tea sets, flower vases, stationery, bamboo landscape installation art, and decoration materials like flooring, wall panels, and ceilings. We also invited bamboo artist Chen Gaoming as our technical consultant, hoping to lead a new trend towards natural indoor decoration in the near future. Thanks to ten years of dedicated management, the products developed by Puyuan have received the Excellence Award in the Living Goods Selection Exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
