Pu Yuan Art Village Introduction
Twenty years ago, we embraced a dream fueled by our passion for bamboo, and followed its traces to the hometown of bamboo, Zhushan, where we began to build a dream centered around this material. Bamboo, apart from its elegant and extraordinary qualities depicted by ancient scholars and poets, is also closely related to everyday life, being crafted into various essential household items. However, early bamboo products were mainly rough in style and difficult to preserve, limiting their long-term usability. Therefore, Puyuan broke through the barriers of bamboo applications, attempting to combine high-tech techniques with traditional craftsmanship to create laminated bamboo furniture. At that time, due to the complicated workmanship and higher costs, it could not compete with wooden furniture. Despite these setbacks, Puyuan continued to uphold its love for bamboo and about ten years ago began utilizing various types of bamboo such as Moso bamboo, Sweet bamboo, Square bamboo, and Purple bamboo in forms like bamboo weaving, bamboo carving, split bamboo, laminated bamboo, and whole bamboo. This showcased the diverse possibilities of bamboo in home products like bamboo lamps, bamboo curtains, tea sets, flower vases, stationery, bamboo landscape installation art, as well as materials for flooring, wall panels, and ceiling decorations. Furthermore, Puyuan invited the bamboo art master, Chen Gaoming, to serve as a technical advisor, hoping to lead a trend towards natural interior decoration in the near future. Thanks to ten years of dedicated management, the products developed by Puyuan have won the Excellence Award at the Life Products Selection Exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
