Puyang Art Studio Introduction
Twenty years ago, with a dream in our hearts and a passion for bamboo, we followed the traces of bamboo to its hometown, Zhushan, and began to build a dream centered around bamboo. Bamboo, aside from showcasing its elegant and extraordinary qualities in the writings of ancient literati, was also transformed into everyday utensils closely related to the lives of common people. However, early bamboo products were often crafted into rougher tools that were not durable for long-term use. Thus, Pu Yuan broke through the limitations of bamboo applications, attempting to blend high-tech methods with traditional craftsmanship to create laminated bamboo furniture. At that time, due to the complexity of the work and the higher costs, it could not compete with wooden furniture. Despite facing such challenges, Pu Yuan remained steadfast in its love for bamboo. Ten years ago, using various types of bamboo such as Moso bamboo, fragrant bamboo, square bamboo, and purple bamboo, we explored bamboo weaving, bamboo carving, split bamboo, laminated bamboo, and raw bamboo, showcasing the diverse possibilities of bamboo in our home products, including bamboo lamps, bamboo curtains, tea sets, flower containers, stationery, and other home decor items, as well as bamboo landscape installation art, and decorative materials like flooring, wall panels, and ceilings. We also invited bamboo craft master Chen Gao-Ming to serve as Pu Yuan's technical consultant, hoping to lead a new trend in natural interior decoration in the near future. Due to our dedicated management over the past decade, the products developed by Pu Yuan have received the Excellence Award at the life products selection exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
