Pu Yuan Art Village Introduction
Twenty years ago, we embraced a dream fueled by our love for bamboo. Following the traces of bamboo, we arrived at the hometown of bamboo, Zhushan, and began to build a dream centered around this versatile plant. Bamboo, besides showcasing an elegant and extraordinary character in the writings of ancient literati, has been transformed into essential everyday items in the lives of common people. However, early bamboo materials were made into relatively rough everyday utensils that were difficult to maintain and unsuitable for long-term use. Thus, Pu Yuan broke through the limitations of bamboo application, attempting to combine advanced technology with traditional craftsmanship to create laminated bamboo furniture. At that time, the complex craftsmanship and higher costs made it difficult to compete with wooden furniture. Despite facing such setbacks, Pu Yuan remained dedicated to its love for bamboo. Ten years ago, we started utilizing various types of bamboo, such as Moso bamboo, 桂竹, Fang bamboo, and purple bamboo, employing techniques like bamboo weaving, bamboo carving, split bamboo, laminated bamboo, and raw bamboo. The many possibilities of bamboo were fully showcased in the household items produced by Pu Yuan, such as bamboo lamps, bamboo curtains, tea sets, flower vases, stationery, and other decorative products. Additionally, we created bamboo landscape installation art, as well as materials for flooring, wall panels, and ceilings. We even invited bamboo art master Chen Gao Ming to serve as a technical consultant for Pu Yuan, hoping to lead a new trend in natural interior decoration in the near future. Thanks to our dedicated efforts over the past ten years, the products developed by Pu Yuan have earned distinguished honors in the selection exhibition of daily necessities organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
