Mirror Platform Introduction
Sunrise and Sunset Beauty: The Bamboo Industry and the Story of Li Yong ● "Yanping" Vanity Table At sunrise, beauty is groomed. The "Yan" character has five villages (Yanping, Shan, Zheng, He, Xiang), with Yanping Village as the early development center, formerly known as Dongpu La (Dongpu Midge), named after the worship of Zheng Chenggong at the Shadong Temple. This resulted in customs such as spring festivals, county festivals, and autumn town festivals. The legendary story of the Shadong Temple in Yanping is "grooming at sunrise, beauty emerges, mirror hole," or "grooming at sunset...". It is said that the Emperor Jiaqing traveled here and spoke, creating a geographical phenomenon, with the "mirror platform" corresponding to Zhaojing Mountain in Yanping Village, deepening the association between the mirror and beauty. Local residents such as Liu Yuyou from Nantou County and Wu Dunyi, aimed to promote the story of the mirror hole, specifically built the mirror platform behind the Shadong Temple to construct the myth. Grooming at sunset or sunrise, in early imagination, covers completely opposite meanings, thus constructing the myth of the destroyed grooming hole geography.
