Mirror Platform Introduction
Sunrise and Sunset Beauty: The Story of Bamboo Industry and Li Yong - "Yanping" Vanity Table. At sunrise, beauty emerges. The "Yan" character encompasses five villages (Yanping, Shan, Zheng, He, and Xiang), among which Yanping Village serves as the early development center, formerly known as Dongpu La (Dongpu Midge), named in honor of Zheng Chenggong, the Duke of Yanping, worshiped at the Shadong Palace. This region has traditions of spring, county, and autumn festivals. The legendary story of Yanping Shadong Palace is "Sunrise Beauty, Mirror Cave," or "Sunset Beauty...," said to have originated from a visit by Emperor Jiaqing, which caused geographical phenomena, linking the "Mirror Rock" to the nearby Zhaojing Mountain in Yanzheng Village, reinforcing the association between mirrors and beauty. Notable figures from Yanping, including Liu Yuyou and Wu Dunyi, built the Zhaojing platform behind the Shadong Palace to promote the story of the Mirror Cave and establish its myth. The concepts of sunset beauty and sunrise beauty are perceived as opposites in early imaginations, constructing a mythology around the geographical site of the beauty spot being disrupted.
