Mirror Lake Introduction
Sunrise and Sunset Beauty: The Bamboo Industry and the Story of Li Yong ● "Yanping" Vanity Table. The sunrise vanity brings forth beauty. The 'Yan' character has five villages (Yanping, Shan, Zheng, He, Xiang), among which Yanping Village is the center of early development, formerly known as Dongpu La (Dongpu Mosquito). It is named after the Fushan Temple worshipping the King of Yanping, Zheng Chenggong, and thus has customs for spring, county, and autumn festivals. The legendary story of Yanping's Fushan Temple is "sunrise vanity brings forth beauty, reflecting the mirror hole," or "sunset vanity...," which is said to have originated from the Jia Qing emperor's visit, causing geographical anomalies in the area. The "mirror platform" corresponds to the mirror mountain in Yan Zheng Village, deepening the connection between mirrors and beauty. Yanping's own Liu Yuyou and Wu Den-yih, among others, constructed the mirror platform behind the Fushan Temple to promote the mirror hole story and build upon the myth. Sunset vanity or sunrise vanity represents completely opposite implications in early imaginations, thus constructing a mythology about the geographical area of replica vanity being destroyed.
