National Museum of Taiwan Literature Introduction

The "National Museum of Taiwan History" is mainly divided into three main buildings: the Cultural Relics Building, the Historical Site Building, and the Archives Building. 1. Cultural Relics Building: Located in the central area of the museum grounds, its exterior features European Renaissance architecture, displaying various folk artifacts related to the food, clothing, shelter, transportation, education, entertainment, religious beliefs, and local customs of the ancestors. The permanent exhibition room showcases the folk culture of everyday life in Taiwan, while the special exhibition room holds diverse exhibitions periodically. Since September 2017, new services for the visually impaired have been added, including tactile braille film for themed points in the permanent exhibition rooms, three-dimensional colored tactile focus artifacts displays, and braille book introduction reading exhibitions for enhanced accessibility. 2. Historical Site Building: The first floor includes a briefing room, a sales department, a service desk, a display area for a model of Taiwan's topography, and exhibition rooms for prehistoric archaeological sites, the Pingpu people, and Indigenous peoples. The second floor contains exhibition rooms for the Dutch and Spanish, the Zheng clan period, and a special exhibition room. The third floor features displays of the Japanese colonial period and post-World War II period, an exhibition room for important figures and events in Taiwan's history, and a model display area for national historic sites. The exhibitions are systematically arranged in chronological order, showcasing the life remains from prehistory and the development of Taiwan across various periods. The fourth floor is a library. To assist visually impaired visitors, braille books are available for reading on each floor (locations are detailed in the floor plan), and the text explanations on exhibition signs are also provided in braille. 3. The Archives Building is located on the right side of the entrance to the Taiwan Historical Cultural Park and officially opened in 1992. It has four floors above ground and one basement level, with a total floor area of approximately 1,700 ping.
