National Palace Museum, Taiwan Literature Museum Introduction
The National Museum of Taiwan History is mainly divided into three main buildings: the Artifacts Building, the Historical Relics Building, and the Archives Building. 1. Artifacts Building: Located at the center of the museum complex, the exterior features European Renaissance architecture, showcasing folk artifacts related to the daily lives of early settlers, including food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, entertainment, religious beliefs, and local customs. The permanent exhibition halls display the folk culture of Taiwanese commoners; the special exhibition hall organizes various exhibitions periodically. Since September 2017, a service for visually impaired visitors has been added, including braille films on the themes in the permanent exhibition halls, three-dimensional color braille exhibits, and braille book summaries for reading. 2. Historical Relics Building: The first floor contains a briefing room, a sales area, a service desk, a model display area of Taiwan's topography, and exhibition rooms for prehistoric archaeological sites, the Pingpu people, and indigenous groups. The second floor features exhibition rooms for the Dutch and Spanish periods, the Zheng dynasty period, and a special exhibition hall; the third floor includes exhibition rooms for the Japanese colonial and post-World War II periods, important figures and events in Taiwan's history, and a model display area for national historic sites. The displays are systematically arranged in chronological order to illustrate the life remnants of Taiwan’s prehistoric period and the development processes and landscapes of Taiwan over different epochs. The fourth floor serves as a library. For the visually impaired, braille books for browsing are provided on each floor (location details are on the floor plan), and explanatory text on standing boards in each exhibition hall also includes braille. 3. The Archives Building is located on the right side at the entrance of the Taiwan Historical and Cultural Park and was officially opened in 1992. It has four floors above ground and one basement level, with a total floor area of approximately 1,700 pings.
