Paper Dome Hsin Guo Xiang Learning Park Introduction
The Paper Dome dances gracefully under the sunlight, and when dusk falls, it radiates a serene and warm atmosphere. The occasional musical feasts and cultural exhibitions further enhance the elegant cultural ambiance of the place. The design of the Paper Dome is inspired by the concept used by Baroque architect Bernini when constructing churches for the Roman Catholic Church. Shigeru Ban utilizes paper tubes to create an elliptical space between the outer walls, forming a corridor; the paper tubes on the inner perimeter of the ellipse are closely arranged, while the spacing of the tubes at the entrance is wider. Upon entering the hall, the roof’s canopy allows natural light to filter in, providing a wonderfully uplifting experience.
