Caonan Wetland Introduction
Caonan Wetland covers an area of only about 3 hectares, yet it is home to over 200 species of woody and herbaceous plants, as well as more than ten species of aquatic plants. It is rich in various species such as birds, frogs, dragonflies, and damselflies throughout the year; making it a valuable wetland in central Taiwan that deserves enhanced conservation efforts and offers ecological education and tourism. The wetland features recreational facilities with ecological themes such as the Dragonfly Pavilion, Frog Presentation Room, and Surprise Bridge, all created and maintained by local residents, and are favorites among visitors. Thanks to the residents' commitment to ecological preservation, the surrounding area of the wetland lights up with fireflies every year in April and May, making it one of the few places in Puli to appreciate fireflies. During the hot summer days, lotus flowers bloom, and the lotus leaves sway in the gentle breeze like green waves, bringing relief from the heat. However, since the wetland is hidden under a canopy of trees, general tourists often find it difficult to enter without guidance from a local expert or tour guide.
