Caohan Wetlands Introduction

The Caonan Wetland covers an area of only about 3 hectares but is home to more than 200 species of woody and herbaceous plants, as well as over a dozen species of aquatic plants. It boasts a diverse array of wildlife, including birds, frogs, dragonflies, and damselflies, making it a valuable wetland that deserves enhanced conservation efforts and provides opportunities for ecological education and tourism in the central region. The ecological-themed recreational facilities within, such as the Dragonfly Pavilion, Frog Presentation Room, and Surprise Bridge, are all created and maintained by local residents and are favorites among visitors. Thanks to the residents' commitment to ecological maintenance, the surrounding area of the wetland glimmers with fireflies every year in April and May, making it one of the few places in the Puli area to enjoy firefly watching. In the sweltering summer, the blooming lotus flowers and their leaves ripple like green waves in the gentle breeze, bringing relief from the heat. However, as the wetland is hidden under a canopy of trees, without the guidance of a local expert or experienced guide, general visitors often find it difficult to access.
