Caonan Wetland Introduction
The Caonan Wetland covers an area of about 3 hectares and is home to over 200 species of woody and herbaceous plants, as well as more than ten species of aquatic plants. It boasts a rich variety of species including birds, frogs, dragonflies, and damselflies throughout the year; it is a valuable wetland in central Taiwan that deserves more conservation efforts and offers ecological education and tourism opportunities. The area's recreational facilities, such as the dragonfly enclosure, frog presentation room, and "Surprise Bridge," which have ecological themes, are collectively created and maintained by the local residents and are popular among visitors. Due to the residents' commitment to ecological preservation, the wetland is a rare site for firefly watching in the Puli area, especially vibrant in April and May. During the hot summer months, lotus flowers bloom, and the lotus leaves sway like green waves in the gentle breeze, providing a refreshing experience. However, as the wetland is located under a canopy of trees, general visitors often have difficulty accessing it without a knowledgeable guide or local interpreter.
