Shuilin Township Banshu House Shuntian Temple Introduction

The only station in Taiwan that enshrines Matsu is Shuntian Temple in Fan Shu Tsuo, commonly known as Fan Shu Liao Mazu. The statue of the founding Mazu is in a standing pose with both hands raised towards the sky, which is rare in Taiwan. Every year on the 15th day of the Lunar New Year, festivities for Yuan Xiao are held, including the drawing of lots, releasing sky lanterns, and shooting fire horses, with a three-day and three-night procession. Shuntian Temple is located in the Fan Shu Tsuo area of our township, where the main hall enshrines the Heavenly Mother (the founding Mazu, along with the deities Qian Li Yan and Shun Feng Er), Xuantian Shangdi, and the Five Great Lords (including Chi Wu, Zhu Fan, and Wang), as well as Guo Xing Gong (Zheng Chenggong), Wu and Liu Wang, the Third Prince Li Nezha (Zhongtan Yuanshuai), and Tiger Lord (Xiatang Yuanshuai). It has an excellent geographical environment surrounded by Beigang River to the east, Fan Shu Tsuo and Lian Song drainage in front, and Jian Shan drainage to the back.
