Qikeng Sculpture Park Introduction
The birthplace of martial arts, witnessing the local history of Qikang during the early development of Taiwan. In Xilo, in order to protect their homeland, the area was divided into seven villages known as Qikang. The local martial arts culture is strong, and in 1996, a sculpture park was established to commemorate seven types of martial arts by turning their movements into sculptures, serving as a record of local history. The founder of the Qikang Martial Arts Academy, Master A Shan, trained in Shaolin Temple and excelled in Eagle Claw Kung Fu. Due to rampant banditry at that time, which severely threatened the lives of the people, the martial arts academies in the Qikang villages became institutions for local self-defense training in urgent circumstances. Currently, there are several sites in Yunlin commemorating the Xilo Qikang that are open for visiting. Zhenxing Temple, Master A Shan's Cemetery, Qikang Sculpture Park, Zhang Liao Shrine, Guangxing Community, etc., all preserve the spirit of Xilo Qikang.
