Dadaocheng was originally inhabited by the Pingpu people. Due to fierce conflicts among the Tong'an people from Wanhua (Mengkua), the tribe moved and settled in Dadaocheng, leading to the construction of shops and houses along the Tamsui River. After the opening of Tamsui Harbor, Dadaocheng became the most prosperous logistics center in Taipei under the governance of Liu Ming-chuan, with tea and textiles as the main traded goods. The areas around Yanping North Road and Guidde Street were the focal points of commercial activities, making the early history of Dadaocheng rich and colorful, leaving a lasting impression.
