Dadaocheng Wharf_Dadaocheng Wharf Container Market Introduction
Dadaocheng was originally the dwelling place of the Plains Indigenous Peoples. Due to violent conflicts among the Tongan people of Wanhua (Bangka), the tribesmen moved to Dadaocheng to settle, beginning the construction of shops and houses along the banks of the Tamsui River. After the port of Tamsui was opened, Dadaocheng became the most prosperous goods distribution center in Taipei under the governance of Liu Ming-chuan, with tea and textiles being the main commodities traded. The area around Yanping North Road and Guidde Street became the focal point of commercial activities, adding vibrancy and richness to the early history of Dadaocheng.
