Dadaocheng Wharf_Dadaocheng Wharf Container Market Introduction
Dadaocheng was originally inhabited by the Pingpu people. Due to violent conflicts among the Han settlers from Wanhua (Mengkha), the inhabitants moved to Dadaocheng and began the construction of shops and houses along the Tamsui River. After the port of Tamsui was opened, Dadaocheng, under the governance of Liu Mingchuan, became the most prosperous distribution center of Taipei City, primarily trading in tea and fabrics. The areas around Yanping North Road and Guide Street became the focus of commercial activities, adding vibrant and memorable chapters to the early history of Dadaocheng.
