DADAocheng Wharf - DADAocheng Wharf Container Market Introduction
Dadaocheng was originally a settlement for the Pingpu people. Due to violent conflicts among the Holo people from Wanhua (also known as Mengjia), members of the tribe moved to Dadaocheng and began the construction of shops and houses along the Tamsui River. After the Tamsui Harbor was opened, Dadaocheng, under the governance of Liu Ming-chuan, became the most prosperous distribution center for goods in Taipei, with tea and textiles as the primary commodities traded. The area around Yanping North Road and Guo De Street became the focal point of commercial activities, which contributed to the rich and colorful history of Dadaocheng in its early years, making it a place of nostalgia.
