Yanping Riverside Park Introduction

Taipei's Yanping Riverside Park is located between the Chongxiao Bridge and the Yanping North Road Section 9 floodgate of the Zhongzhou Pumping Station along the riverbank. This area served as a recreational spot for Taipei residents in the 1940s. Yanping Riverside Park, located close to the area from Chongxiao Bridge to the end of Minsheng West Road, features a large field. Entering from the end of Nanjing West Road (No. 4), visitors are greeted by lush forests, green grass, and shady trees, making it a long-established backyard for residents of the Datong District. In the early morning, the square often hosts local grandmothers performing folk dances, while grandfathers practice tai chi. At the end of Nanjing West Road (No. 4) watergate, there is a "Yanping Temple," which remains a gathering place for local elders. The plaque indicates it was built around 1905, around the time of the Yiji year. Beneath the large offering table in the temple courtyard, the statue of the tiger god is rustic and lifelike, seemingly witnessing the local community’s evolution. Outside the end of Minsheng West Road (No. 5) watergate is the Dadaocheng Wharf. Upon entering the watergate, visitors can see colorful Tangshan sailboats, elegantly arched bridges, and a blue highway boat dock, currently providing boat rides to Guandu or Bali, offering a different perspective from land routes. Dadaocheng Wharf (No. 5 watergate) features a blue highway dock, coffee plaza, and Tangshan sailboats. Riding bicycles along the river northward, visitors are accompanied by views of Yangmingshan and beautiful sunsets over the Tamsui River; the contrast with the heavy traffic on several cross-river bridges makes this leisure time exceptionally rare. Riders can also explore nearby cultural landmarks, including Dadaocheng, Dihua Street, Xiahai City God Temple, Taipei Confucius Temple, Dalongdong Bao'an Temple, and Yongle Market, providing a glimpse into Dadaocheng's former prosperity.
