Huachung Riverside Park Introduction
From an aerial view, the Xindian River bends at Huachong Riverside Park, forming a large floodplain. The winding terrain resembles a crescent moon, or even a boomerang, with wide and flat green grasslands, making it perfect for large events. This location is also one of the best places to watch the sunset and birdwatching: the park is rich in ecology, with schools of fish foraging in the river and wild birds jumping among the trees. The park features a variety of children's play equipment, along with sand laid out for safety, and benches around the facilities for parents to rest while keeping an eye on their children, enhancing parent-child interaction. Since 2009, the city government has established the Huachong Camping Area here, providing tent and car camping spaces for public application, making it the first large riverside camping area in Taiwan. When cycling through the riverside park and passing under the Huachong Bridge, there are stalls set up as rest points for cyclists. The various stalls offer Taiwanese snacks and traditional toys, and there’s also a bicycle practice area nearby that provides a safe space for children and the general public to practice riding at different skill levels. Relevant explanatory signs are set up around the area to further understand basic cycling knowledge and proper riding techniques. It is recommended to first browse the explanatory signs and the basic riding information provided on this page to have a pleasant and safe cycling experience by the water. After resting, continuing downstream, you will pass through a shaded tunnel where many people dance and exercise in the mornings, full of vitality. You don't have to ride a bike to enjoy this place. There are various sports facilities, such as basketball courts not only for a friendly "pick-up game" but also a beach volleyball court that allows you to sweat under the sun and sand in the urban environment. Strolling along the riverbank trail, whether in the early morning or at night under the twinkling stars, while feeling the gentle breeze beneath the green shade, offers different charms while overlooking the green grassland below. Additionally, spacious parking lots are available at the entrances of Huachong Gate No. 1 and No. 2, alleviating parking issues in the city. Nearby Huachong Riverside Park connects to the Matzutown Memorial Park and Youth Park, making it an excellent choice for couples on a date, with plenty of dining options available near Youth Park.
