Huazhong Riverside Park Introduction
From an aerial view, the Xindian River makes a bend here at Huazhong Riverside Park, forming a large floodplain. The winding terrain resembles a crescent moon and looks like a boomerang, with an expansive flat green lawn that is ideal for hosting large events. This park is also the best place to watch sunsets and birdwatching; it boasts rich ecology, with schools of fish foraging in the river and wild birds hopping among the trees. The park features various children’s play facilities, with fine sand laid down for safety. Benches are provided around the facilities for parents to supervise their children while resting, enhancing parent-child interaction. Since 2009, the city government has established the Huazhong Campsite here, offering tent and car camping spaces for the public to apply for usage, making it the first large riverside camping site in Taiwan. When you ride a bicycle through Huazhong Riverside Park and pass under the Huazhong Bridge, there are kiosks serving as rest points for cyclists. The kiosks offer a variety of local Taiwanese snacks and toys, alongside a bicycle practice area that accommodates various skill levels, providing a safe and comfortable practice environment for less experienced children or general riders. Signage is located nearby to further educate cyclists on basic knowledge and proper riding methods. It is recommended that you first read the informative signs and the basic riding tips provided on this page to ensure a fun and safe cycling experience along the waterfront. After resting, if you continue downstream, you will pass through a shaded tunnel where many people dance and exercise in the morning, creating a lively atmosphere. Visiting this location does not mean you have to ride a bicycle; there are many sports facilities such as basketball courts, where friends can play games, and beach volleyball courts allow you to sweat it out under the sun and sand in the city. Whether it’s morning or night, strolling along the top of the embankment path, you can enjoy the cool shade of greenery or feel the gentle breeze under the starlit sky while looking at the lush green grass below, each offering a different ambiance. Additionally, there are spacious parking lots at the entrances of Huazhong Gate 1 and Gate 2, helping to ease the parking problem in the city. Huazhong Riverside Park is also connected to Matzuyama Memorial Park and Youth Park, making it an excellent choice for couples on dates, with many dining options available near Youth Park.
