Baihe A-Po Rice Cake, Mitaimo (Ren'ai Store) Introduction
Once upon a time in Baihe Township, Tainan County, there was an 85-year-old grandmother who had been selling rice noodles and bowl cakes at the market for over 50 years. With no fancy packaging or television coverage, her dishes would capture anyone's heart with just one bite, bringing back nostalgic memories of childhood laughter and tears, reminiscent of the past. The grandmother places great emphasis on the quality of her food, never cutting corners or adding any chemicals. "Following traditional methods and insisting on handmade" is her philosophy. Through her, one can see the dignity and dedication that older generations of Taiwanese have towards food. Although, with age, she has to give up this traditional craft, she has thankfully passed down her delicious methods so that this authentic taste can continue to be enjoyed.
