Erzihping Introduction
Located on the west side of Yangmingshan National Park, this volcanic depression is situated between the main peak of Datun Mountain and Erzi Mountain. The road is flat and the terrain is broad and open, with three ponds in the center. Due to its location on the west side of Datun Mountain's leeward side, it is often shrouded in clouds and mist, offering beautiful scenery. Additionally, the area is situated between a subtropical and warm-temperate climate, characterized by mild weather and complex forest formations with a wide variety of plant species. The edges are primarily composed of trees such as red nanmu, black pine, and sweetgum, creating a serene atmosphere. The understory consists mainly of Taiwan mountain bayberry, Cleyera japonica, tree goji, black cherry (Prunus serotina), long-stemmed jigong, Acer caudatum, and Taiwan tree ginseng. The herbaceous layer is abundant with giant taro, Taiwan blue borage, snake-root grass, yellow-flowered mouse tail sage, water duckweed, and various ferns. Currently, the entire area is planted with azaleas, mountain cherry, small-leaved red-nanmu, and various plants that attract butterflies and serve as nectar sources, along with dozens of aquatic plants, making it suitable for butterfly watching, bird watching, hiking, sightseeing, and plant observation activities.
