National Taiwan University College of Law Introduction
The College of Law at National Taiwan University, located on Xuzhou Road, was formerly the site of the Taipei Higher Commercial School during the Japanese colonial period. The architectural style is a refined Western classical style, with the gate constructed from sandstone sourced from Taipei, topped with bronze light fixtures that have a vintage appearance. The plaza inside the gate retains a water feature and garden. The administration building showcases a splendid Baroque style, where elegant Greek columns and semi-circular arch shapes can be seen from the front of the building. The roof is covered with black tiles from Japan, exemplifying a creative blend of Eastern and Western elements with a unique aesthetic. Inside, the grand auditorium features a large span, with the podium and seating largely being original, which is quite rare. The layout resembles a traditional Siheyuan (四合院) courtyard, with a central atrium, greenery flourishing throughout the atrium and campus, and the interplay of flowers, plants, and water features creating a serene and elegant scene worth preserving and cherishing.
