Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry Introduction
In 1708, the ancestors of Kuo Yuan Ye arrived in Taiwan from Zhangzhou, Fujian, crossing the sea with a bamboo pole at Shilin's Qiaotou and opened a new chapter in the history of traditional Taiwanese pastries. Through four generations of legendary management, the century-old shop has innovated and established the reputation of "Pastry Family." After a century of refinement, Mr. Kuo Yuan Ye founded Taiwan's first pastry museum to preserve the precious historical assets of Taiwanese pastries. The museum displays the history of the "Pastry Family" over the past hundred years and introduces the evolution of traditional Taiwanese pastry making, as well as the customs and rituals of traditional Taiwanese weddings and funerals, allowing the world to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese traditional pastries. Established in 2002, the Kuo Yuan Ye Pastry Museum Shilin Branch is located at the original site of Kuo Yuan Ye's century-old shop, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Kuo Yuan Ye corporate headquarters, following the establishment of the Yangmei Branch in 2001. In addition to the museum's exhibition area that introduces the historical evolution of Taiwanese pastries over the past century and traditional customs related to weddings and funerals, there is a "Happy Baking House" where visitors are invited to make pastries by hand and experience the fun world of pastries. Additionally, there are "Parent-Child Activity Areas" and "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Areas" where both adults and children can engage in various activities and facilities to learn more about Taiwanese pastries.
