Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Bakery and Pastry Introduction

In 1708, the ancestors of Kuo Yuan Ye crossed the sea from Zhangzhou, Fujian, to Taiwan and opened a new chapter in the history of traditional Taiwanese pastries at Shilin Bridge with a carrying pole. With four generations of legendary management, the century-old store has continuously innovated and earned the title of "Pastry Family." After a century of refinement, Mr. Kuo Yuan Ye established Taiwan's first pastry museum to preserve the precious historical assets of Taiwanese pastries, showcasing the history of "Pastry Family" over a century and introducing the evolution of the traditional pastry industry in Taiwan as well as the customs of traditional Taiwanese weddings, funerals, and celebrations, thereby allowing the world to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of traditional Taiwanese pastries. Established in 2002, the Kuo Yuan Ye Pastry Museum Shilin Branch is located at the original site of Kuo Yuan Ye’s century-old store, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Kuo Yuan Ye corporate headquarters, following the establishment of the Yangmei Branch in 2001. In addition to the exhibition area that introduces the historical evolution of Taiwanese pastries and traditional customs for weddings and funerals over the past century, there is also a "Happy Baking House," inviting visitors to make pastries by hand and experience the fun world of pastries. Additionally, there are "Parent-Child Activity Areas" and "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Areas," allowing both adults and children to gain more knowledge about Taiwanese pastries through various activities and facilities.
