Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry Introduction
In 1708, the ancestor of Kuo Yuan Ye crossed the sea from Zhangzhou, Fujian to Taiwan. Relying on a shoulder pole at the Shilin Bridge, he opened a new chapter in the history of traditional Taiwanese pastries. After four generations of legendary management, the century-old store has continually innovated and established the reputation of "The Pastry Family." Through a century of refinement, Mr. Kuo Yuan Ye founded the first pastry museum in Taiwan to preserve the precious historical assets of Taiwanese pastries. The museum displays a century of history from "The Pastry Family" and introduces the evolution of the traditional pastry industry in Taiwan, as well as the customs and rituals associated with traditional weddings, funerals, and celebrations. This allows the world to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese traditional pastries. Established in 2002, the Kuo Yuan Ye Pastry Museum Shilin Branch was set up after the Yangmei Branch in 2001, located at the original site of the century-old Kuo Yuan Ye store, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Kuo Yuan Ye corporate headquarters. In addition to the exhibition area that showcases the historical evolution of Taiwanese pastries over the past century and the traditional customs for weddings, funerals, and celebrations, there is also a "Happy Baking House" where visitors are invited to make pastries by hand, experiencing the interesting world of pastries. Additionally, there is a "Parent-Child Activity Area" and an "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Area," allowing both adults and children to gain more knowledge about Taiwanese pastries through various activities and facilities.
