Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry Introduction
In 1708, the ancestor of Guo Yuan Yi crossed the sea from Zhangzhou, Fujian to Taiwan, and started a new chapter in the history of traditional Taiwanese pastries at Shilin Bridge with just a shoulder pole. Through four generations of legendary management, this century-old store has innovated and established the reputation of "Pastry Family." After a hundred years of refinement, Mr. Guo Yuan Yi founded Taiwan's first pastry museum to preserve the precious historical assets of Taiwanese pastries, displaying the century-long history of the "Pastry Family" and introducing the evolution of the traditional pastry industry in Taiwan as well as the customs related to traditional weddings, funerals, and celebrations. This aims to provide a deeper understanding of Taiwanese traditional pastries to the world. Established in 2002, the Guo Yuan Yi Pastry Museum Shilin Branch was set up after the Yangmei Branch in 2001, located on the original site of the century-old Guo Yuan Yi store, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Guo Yuan Yi corporate headquarters. In addition to display areas that showcase the historical evolution of Taiwanese pastries over the past century and traditional customs related to weddings and celebrations, there is a "Happy Baking House" inviting visitors to make pastries by hand, experiencing the interesting world of pastries. Additionally, there are "Parent-Child Activity Areas" and "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Areas" where both adults and children can gain more knowledge about Taiwanese pastries through various activities and facilities.
