Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry Introduction

In 1708, the ancestor of Kuo Yuan Ye arrived in Taiwan from Zhangzhou, Fujian, crossing the sea and establishing a new chapter in Taiwan's traditional pastry history with just a shoulder pole at Shilin Bridge. After four generations of legendary management, this century-old shop has continuously innovated, proudly earning the name "Pastry Family." After a hundred years of refining, Mr. Kuo Yuan Ye established Taiwan's first pastry museum to preserve the precious historical heritage of Taiwanese pastries. The museum displays the history of the "Pastry Family" over the past century and introduces the evolution of Taiwan's traditional pastry industry as well as customs related to traditional weddings and funerals in Taiwan, thereby deepening the world's understanding of Taiwanese traditional pastries. The Kuo Yuan Ye Pastry Museum Shilin Branch, established in 2002, is located at the original site of Kuo Yuan Ye's century-old shop, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Kuo Yuan Ye headquarters, following the establishment of the Yangmei Branch in 2001. In addition to the museum's display area that introduces the historical evolution of Taiwanese pastries over the past century and traditional customs for weddings and funerals, there is a "Happy Baking House" inviting visitors to make pastries by hand and experience the fun world of pastries. Additionally, there are "Parent-Child Activity Zones" and "Outdoor Parent-Child Recreation Areas" where both adults and children can engage in various activities and facilities to learn more about Taiwanese pastries.
