Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Park Introduction
Jiang Wei-shui Memorial Park, originally named "Jinxi Park," is located in the Dadaocheng area, covering an area of 5,060 square meters, making it the largest neighborhood park in the Datong District. Mr. Jiang Wei-shui was a Taiwanese democratic fighter and cultural pioneer, with many significant events in his life occurring in the Dadaocheng area, such as establishing Daan Hospital, founding the Cultural Association, and setting up the General Wholesale Office for the People's Daily. To commemorate Mr. Jiang Wei-shui, the Taipei City Government renamed the nearby Jinxi Park to "Jiang Wei-shui Memorial Park." The park includes an entrance monument and a memorial archway. The side wall of the entrance monument features an inscription written by historian Chuang Yong-ming, introducing Mr. Jiang Wei-shui’s life, with the content available in Chinese, English, and Japanese for the convenience of visitors from various regions. The memorial archway is designed in the Baroque architectural style, reminiscent of the local characteristics of Dihua Street; above the front inscription wall is a plaque inscribed with "Jiang Wei-shui Memorial Monument," and on both sides of the pillars are slogans written by calligrapher Pan Ching-chung stating "Unity among compatriots is essential; unity is truly powerful." The entire landscape is solemn and dignified, highlighting its commemorative significance. The park also features pavilions, benches, and play equipment, allowing visitors to slow down and explore the story of Jiang Wei-shui together.
