Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Park Introduction
Jiang Wei-Shui Memorial Park, formerly known as Jinxi Park, is located in the Dadaocheng area, covering an area of 5,060 square meters, making it the largest neighborhood park in the Datong District. Mr. Jiang Wei-Shui was a democratic fighter and cultural pioneer in Taiwan, with many of his significant contributions taking place in the Dadaocheng area, such as the establishment of Daan Hospital, the founding of the Cultural Association, and the establishment of the Minbao Wholesale Center. In honor of Mr. Jiang Wei-Shui, the Taipei City Government renamed the nearby Jinxi Park to "Jiang Wei-Shui Memorial Park." Within the park, there is an entrance monument and a commemorative archway. The side wall of the entrance monument features an introduction to Mr. Jiang Wei-Shui’s life written by historian Zhuang Yong-Ming, available in Chinese, English, and Japanese, making it convenient for visitors from various places. The design of the commemorative archway is inspired by the Baroque architectural style of Dihua Street, reflecting the local characteristics; additionally, a plaque bearing the title "Jiang Wei-Shui Memorial Monument" is embedded at the top of the front wall, while on both sides, inscriptions by calligrapher Pan Qing-Zhong stating "Fellow compatriots must unite; unity has great strength" are engraved. The overall landscape is solemn and dignified, highlighting the significance of the memorial. The park also features pavilions, benches, and playground equipment, allowing visitors to slow down and explore the stories of Jiang Wei-Shui.
