Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Museum Introduction
Dadonghe (Dadaocheng) is the main birthplace of modern thought in Taiwan. The righteous and enthusiastic people of Dadonghe displayed an expansive worldview and profound cultural literacy, sowing the seeds of new culture under the oppressive rule of Japanese colonialism, which bloomed into resilient new cultural flowers. The Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall will recreate the unparalleled historical splendor of Dadonghe, recalling the fearless pioneers of the new culture of that era. In addition to actively collecting and exhibiting historical materials of the New Cultural Movement, it will continue various integration and revitalization efforts for the precious cultural assets related to Dadonghe, verifying important historical figures' activity sites and residences, linking them into a cultural history trail, and establishing a "Dadonghe History and Arts Center," making Dadonghe an open cultural historical ecological museum. In the future, one can hear cultural and historical workers recount the inspiring historical deeds of the enlightened individuals and literati of that conscious era on the streets of Dadonghe, while also reshaping the historical atmosphere of that time within the hall, tasting contemporary new literature, listening to modern new ballads in different performance halls, watching contemporary new dramas, and appreciating contemporary new arts.
