Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Museum Introduction

Dihua Street is the main birthplace of modern thought in Taiwan. The altruistic scholars of Dihua Street demonstrated a broad worldview and a profound literary and cultural background. Despite the oppressive Japanese colonial rule, they planted the seeds of a new culture which blossomed with remarkable resilience. The Taiwan New Culture Movement Memorial Hall will recreate the outstanding historical splendor of Dihua Street, recalling the fearless pioneers of the new culture. In addition to actively collecting and exhibiting historical materials related to the New Culture Movement, it will continuously integrate and revitalize the precious cultural assets associated with Dihua Street. This includes identifying the residences and activity points of important historical figures and linking them into a cultural history trail, transforming it into the "Dihua Street History and Arts Center." This will turn Dihua Street into an open cultural history ecological museum. In the future, visitors to the streets of Dihua can listen to cultural historians recount inspiring historical events of the altruistic scholars and literati from the era of self-awareness, experience the contemporary historical atmosphere recreated within the hall, savor contemporary new literature in various performance halls, listen to modern ballads, watch contemporary new plays, and appreciate contemporary new art.
