Shifang Music Theatre Introduction
Shih Fang Music Theatre is suitable for hosting percussion concerts, solo performances/singing, chamber music concerts, presentations, and multimedia experimental music theatre performances. Additionally, it is appropriate for formal ceremonies and various lectures. The walls are divided with professional soundproof materials, which are thick and sturdy, thoroughly isolating external environmental noise. The interior decoration of the theatre features high-quality solid oak wood materials, which provide excellent acoustics, creating a clear sound space. To express the beauty of musical "rests" and "pianissimo" dynamics, the air conditioning system is one of the important designs of Shih Fang Music Theatre, completely eliminating the cutting noise of air ducts commonly found in small performance venues and multi-functional medium to large performance spaces. The audience seating is tiered, utilizing movable folding chairs, allowing for flexible use of space according to the needs of each performance group, accommodating approximately 100 people. In 1997, percussionist Shih Bo-Nien and pianist Lo Mei-Ya, with their passionate love for the arts, returned to Taiwan, the land they deeply cherish, with the intention of creating a cultural and artistic garden. Given that there were very few venues in Taiwan available for professional musicians to perform, especially those suitable for "modern music," they chose to transform a factory located in a small alley in the Datong District of Taipei into Taiwan's first privately-owned art hub. This small music theatre, with a height of 3.6 meters, possesses a sound space in golden ratio, aiming to become a home for musicians. Outside the music theatre, there is a Mado Café that serves coffee, wine, and meals, bringing people closer to music and art through fine food. Now, Shih Fang Music Theatre has been established for over twenty years, hosting countless international masters and collaborating with numerous newly emerged musicians returning from abroad. It is a place where many professional musicians and Golden Melody Award winners produce albums and record songs; it is the best choice for many music teachers to hold student concerts; it is a nurturing ground for contemporary Taiwanese composers to grow and thrive, hosting modern music forums; it is filled with love and emotion for the arts.
