Shihfang Leji Theater Introduction

Shihfang Music Theater is suitable for hosting percussion concerts, solo performances/singing recitals, chamber music concerts, presentations, and multimedia experimental music theater performances. It is also appropriate for formal ceremonies and various lectures. The wall partitions are made of professional soundproof materials, thick and sturdy, completely isolating external environmental noise. The interior decoration of the theater utilizes high-quality solid oak wood materials, providing excellent resonance effects and creating a clear sound field. To express the beauty of "rests" and "pianissimo" in music, the air conditioning system is one of the key designs of Shihfang Music Theater, which completely eliminates the wind noise typically found in small performance venues and multifunctional mid-to-large performance spaces. The audience seating is tiered, using movable folding chairs that allow flexible use of space according to the needs of each performance group, accommodating about 100 people. In 1997, percussionist Hsu Po-Nien and pianist Lo Mei-Ya, filled with passion for the arts, returned to Taiwan—the land they deeply love—with the intention of creating a garden of cultural and artistic expression. Given the limited performances venues for professional musicians in Taiwan at that time, especially those suitable for "modern music," they chose a factory located in a small alley in Datong District, Taipei City, and transformed it into Taiwan's first privately-owned art hall. The intimate music theater has a height of 3.6 meters and features an acoustically optimized space with a golden ratio. To make this place a home for musicians, the theater houses a Mardo Café, serving coffee, wine, and meals, bridging the distance between cuisine and musical art. Today, Shihfang Music Theater has been established for over twenty years, hosting countless internationally acclaimed masters and collaborating with numerous emerging musicians who returned from studying abroad. It is a place where many professional musicians and Golden Melody Awards winners come to produce albums and record music; it is a preferred choice for many music teachers to hold student concerts; it is a nurturing ground for contemporary Taiwanese composers, hosting modern music forums; and it is filled with love and passion for the arts. We welcome you to join us in continuing to share the story of this place. (Source: Shihfang Music)
