North Branch of the Bureau of Investigation (Old Site) Introduction
The original site was the "Taiwan High Sand Casting Company" (高砂鑄造株式會社), invested by the Ku family of Lugang in 1917 during the Japanese colonial period. Later, the operations of the factory were managed by Ku Hsien-Jung's daughter-in-law, Ku Yen-Pi-Hsia (wife of Ku Yueh-Fu). After the war, the Nationalist government took over the factory, which was forcibly closed due to Ku Yen-Pi-Hsia's involvement in a case related to banditry. Subsequently, it was used by the Ministry of National Defense's Bureau of Secret Intelligence and became a key location for the interrogation of political prisoners during the early period of the White Terror in the 1950s.
