Xindian Creek Yangguang Bridge Introduction
The Sunlight Bridge is the first pedestrian and bicycle cross-river scenic bridge in New Taipei City, designed with a human-centered approach, combining aesthetics with night-time light sculptures. It was officially opened on November 19, 2011. The "Sunlight Bridge" breaks the record for the longest steel structure bridge span in Taiwan, featuring a span of 245 meters over the river without any piers, and a total length of 315 meters. It is a single-arch cable-stayed bridge supported by steel cables resembling piano strings and five arches, highlighting the elegance of the Sunlight Bridge. It won the 13th National Building Golden Award. The Sunlight Bridge was formerly known as the Zhong'an Temporary Bridge in Xindian; the city government transformed it into a long-span, high-flood prevention scenic bridge, serving as a connection exclusively for pedestrians and bicycles between the Rhine Park on the right bank and the Sunlight Sports Park on the left bank of the Xindian River. The bridge deck is curved, directly connecting from the Ankang end to the Tangquan Overpass, linking the areas on both sides of the Dabitan. It provides unobstructed passage and is illuminated at night by a rich light sculpture show, becoming a new landmark in the Xindian area, enhancing the riverside scenery of the Xindian River and the quality of life for residents. The bridge’s light sculpture design embellishes the beautiful night riverside scenery of the Xindian River, with energy-saving LED lighting installed throughout, and a dynamic light sculpture show crafted to create a night viewing spot in the Xindian area.
