Xindian Creek Sunshine Bridge Introduction
The Sunshine Bridge is the first pedestrian and bicycle bridge in New Taipei City that prioritizes human use while featuring aesthetic design and nighttime light sculptures. It was officially inaugurated on November 19, 2011. The "Sunshine Bridge" breaks the record for the longest span of any steel bridge in Taiwan without piers in the river, with a main span of 245 meters and a total length of 315 meters. It is a single-arch cable-stayed bridge, supported by steel cables resembling the strings of a musical instrument and five arch rings, highlighting the bridge's elegance. It has also won the 13th National Architectural Golden Award. The Sunshine Bridge was previously known as the Zhong'an Convenience Bridge in Xindian. The city government transformed it into a long-span, flood-resistant scenic bridge, serving as a connection for pedestrians and cyclists between the right bank of the Xindian River and the Rhine Park and the left bank Sunshine Sports Park. The bridge features a curved design that connects directly to the Tangquan Overpass at the Ankang end, allowing seamless travel across both sides of the Dapitan area. At night, it is illuminated by a vibrant light sculpture show, making it a new landmark in the Xindian area, enhancing the riverfront landscape of the Xindian River and improving the quality of life for residents. The bridge's light sculpture design is intended to embellish the beautiful nighttime riverside scenery along the Xindian River. The Sunshine Bridge is fully equipped with energy-saving LED lighting and has carefully crafted dynamic light shows, creating a nighttime viewing attraction in the Xindian area.
