Xindian River Sunshine Bridge Introduction
Sunshine Bridge is the first pedestrian and bicycle bridge in New Taipei City, designed with a human-centered approach, featuring a unique shape and night-time light sculptures. It was officially inaugurated and opened for traffic on November 19, 2011. The "Sunshine Bridge" breaks the record for the longest span steel bridge in Taiwan, with a span of 245 meters and a total length of 315 meters. It is a single-arch rib inclined cable-stayed bridge, supported by steel cables resembling a piano string and five arch rings, highlighting the elegance of the Sunshine Bridge. It also won the 13th National Architecture Golden Award. The Sunshine Bridge was formerly known as the Zhong'an Bridge in Xindian, which was renovated by the city government to become a long-span, high-flood-resistant scenic bridge, serving as the connecting bridge for pedestrians and bicycles between the Rhine Park on the right bank and Sunshine Sports Park on the left bank of the Xindian River. The bridge deck has a curved design that directly connects to the Tangquan Overpass at the Ankang end, unobstructedly linking the two banks of Dapingtan. At night, it is illuminated by an elaborate light show, becoming a new landmark in the Xindian area, enhancing the riverside landscape of the Xindian River and improving the quality of life for citizens. The bridge's lighting design enhances the beautiful night scenery of the Xindian River, employing energy-efficient and carbon-reducing LED lighting equipment, and carefully crafted dynamic light shows, creating a night-time attraction in the Xindian area.
