Xindian Creek Sunshine Bridge Introduction
The Sunshine Bridge is the first pedestrian and bicycle bridge in New Taipei City that emphasizes human-centric design while combining aesthetic appeal and nighttime light sculptures. It was officially opened on November 19, 2011. The Sunshine Bridge breaks the record for the longest span of steel bridges in Taiwan, with a span of 245 meters and a total length of 315 meters. It is a single-arch ribbed steel cable-stayed bridge, supported by steel cables and five arch rings that highlight its graceful design. It was awarded the 13th National Architecture Golden Award. The bridge is a redevelopment of the old Zhong'an Bridge in Xindian, which has been transformed by the city government into a long-span and flood-resistant landscape bridge, serving as a pedestrian and bicycle connection between Rhine Park on the right bank of the Xindian River and Sunshine Sports Park on the left bank. The bridge's arc-shaped deck connects directly from the Ankang end to the Tangquan Overpass, facilitating seamless movement between both sides of Dabitang. At night, it illuminates the Xindian River with a rich light sculpture show, becoming a new landmark in the Xindian area, enhancing the riverside landscape and improving the quality of life for citizens. The bridge's light sculpture design enhances the beautiful nighttime riverside scenery of the Xindian River, fully utilizing energy-saving LED lighting equipment and meticulously crafting dynamic light shows to create a nighttime visual attraction in the Xindian area.
