Hualien Visitor Center Introduction
Following Provincial Highway 11, you will arrive at the northernmost point of the East Coast Scenic Area, the Hualien Visitor Center. This visitor center, located on a hillside, features an exhibition area showcasing natural and cultural resources from the region, as well as a multimedia briefing room that can accommodate 81 people. Before embarking on your journey along the East Coast, it's a good idea to stop here for relevant travel information. Facing the vast Pacific Ocean, the Hualien Visitor Center offers excellent views, allowing visitors to gaze out at the endless blue sea and enjoy the stunning coastal scenery. Each year, from April to May, the hillside next to the visitor center bursts into bloom with daylilies, and along the surrounding scenic walking paths, visitors can admire the waves of flowers swaying in the breeze—truly a picturesque sight that captivates many. From the visitor center, heading north leads you to the northern boundary of the Central Mountain Range, at Lingtian Cape, where you can witness the beautiful confluence of the Hualien River and the Pacific Ocean, creating the scenic phenomenon known as "Huilan." In the past, Hualien Harbor was also referred to as "Huilan Harbor."
