Yanliao Introduction
Yanliao Village is located in Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, and boasts the longest gravel beach in Taiwan. The name Yanliao originates from the early production of edible salt near Hualien Port, and it was referred to as "Yanliao Port" during the Japanese occupation. In recent years, every summer, it attracts handcrafters and backpackers from various places who gather to form an exotic "Sea or Crazy Market," where handmade goods, tarot readings, and discussions on various topics can all be found. Along Yanliao, there are unique guesthouses, and enjoying a cup of coffee by the window facing the sea creates a beautiful and peaceful afternoon. Alternatively, one can wander along the coastal bike path, and when tired, stop by nearby stores to indulge in a fresh and lavish seafood feast! The Yanliao Tribe is divided into three small villages: Dakeng, Tomay, and Ganzi Tree Foot. Among them, Tomay is composed of Amis people from the Lilu community, meaning "Bear Mountain." It is said that the Amis of the Lilu community used to hunt large bears here, while the other two small villages belong to the Siouguluan Amis tribe.
