Wang-An Green Turtle Conservation Center Introduction
Near the Taimen Port, a building resembling a sea turtle stands to the southeast of Wangan Island. Upon entering the center, visitors can experience the natural ecology of Wangan, where migratory birds and conservation species are showcased, with the most important being the "Green Sea Turtle." The displays include features for identifying turtle species and their habitats, as well as cultural activities related to sea turtles, such as the "Shangyuan Turtle Prayers." Notably, at the entrance of the exhibition hall stands the "Haoshan Hall" stone tablet, which records the fundraising efforts by the local gentry 130 years ago to protect sea turtles and plow oxen. The inscription states that it was established to reward residents for their compassion towards life and to request the government to impose severe penalties on violators, demonstrating a balance of grace and authority. Today, this inscription serves as an important testimony to the early ancestors' commitment to sea turtle conservation. Entering the Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center, the first sight is the exhibition hall, with the audiovisual briefing room on the right. A documentary on Green Sea Turtle ecology is screened daily from 10 AM to 4 PM, and groups of over ten can make reservations for guided tours, making the learning experience both educational and enjoyable.
