Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area is located by the seaside at the edge of the Shanzhuang settlement in Zhonghe Village. The spectacular basalt erosion along Qimei Coast showcases a continuous coastline of columnar basalt sea cliffs. Within the Dashi Scenic Area, the "Dashi" resembles a giant basalt that stands like a lion in the sea, formed by the radial columnar basalt after being eroded by the sea. Next to the stone lion, there is another remarkable sight, a block formed by volcanic agglomerate rock, featuring distinct folds and evident bending structures, resembling a giant dragon winding and surging on the sea surface, hence the name "Longcheng." On this wave-cut platform, there are various sizes of tofu rock and over a hundred potholes, making it one of the largest and most orderly groups of potholes in Penghu. There is an observation deck here where one can view the stone lion on the right and Longcheng on the left, enjoying the magnificent and diverse geological landscape. Alongside the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several vendors and grocery stores selling ice products and local specialties. Walking along the alley behind, you can appreciate the stone lion from different angles and distances, and descending the stairs leads to a viewing platform where you can observe the stone lion and Longcheng up close. 【Recommended Stay Time】 0.5 hours
