Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
The Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area is located at the seaside edge of the Shanding settlement in Zhonghe Village. The Qimei Coast features spectacular basalt sea erosion, with a continuous coastline of columnar basalt cliffs. Within the Dashi Scenic Area, the "Dashi" resembles a massive basalt formation that stands like a lion in the sea, formed as a result of radial columnar basalt undergoing sea erosion. Next to the stone lion, there is another wonder composed of volcanic breccia, characterized by distinct folds, which has warped into a shape resembling a gigantic dragon that twists and turns on the sea surface, hence the name "Longcheng." On this sea erosion platform, there are tofu rocks of various sizes and over a hundred potholes of varying dimensions, making it the largest and most organized group of potholes in Penghu. An observation deck is available for visitors to view the stone lion on the right and Longcheng on the left, allowing for a fantastic display of geological scenery. Next to the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several vendors and grocery stores selling ice products and local specialties. Following the alley behind, you can walk along the road to view the stone lion from different angles and distances, and by descending the stairs, there is a viewpoint for a closer look at the stone lion and Longcheng.
