Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
The Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area is located at the seaside of the Shanding settlement in Zhonghe Village. The Qimei Coastal Basalt Erosion is spectacular, featuring a continuous coastal line of columnar basalt cliffs. The "Dashi" in the scenic area resembles a huge basalt structure that looks like a lion squatting in the sea, which is the result of radial columnar basalt shaped by coastal erosion. Next to the stone lion is a fascinating rock formation made of volcanic breccia, characterized by obvious folds and bends due to compression, resembling a giant dragon undulating across the sea, hence the name "Longcheng" (Dragon Pool). On this wave-cut platform, various sizes of tofu rocks and over a hundred potholes of different sizes can be found, making it one of the larger and more orderly groups of potholes in Penghu. There is an observation deck here, allowing visitors to see the stone lion on the right and the Longcheng on the left, enjoying the spectacular and varied geological landscape. Next to the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several vendors and grocery stores selling cold snacks and local specialties. In the back alley, walking along the road provides different angles to appreciate the stone lion from afar, while descending the stairs leads to a viewing platform for a close look at the stone lion and Longcheng. [Recommended visit duration] 0.5 hours.
