Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
Dashi Scenic Area is located by the seaside at the edge of the mountain settlement in Zhonghe Village. The Qimei Coast features spectacular basalt sea erosion, where the coastline is adorned with continuous cliffs of columnar basalt. In the Dashi Scenic Area, the "Dashi" resembles a massive basalt that looks like a lion crouching in the sea, a result of the radial columnar basalt shaped by sea erosion. Next to the stone lion is a remarkable sight, a piece formed from volcanic agglomerate with distinct folds, bent due to pressure, resembling a gigantic dragon that meanders and roils on the ocean surface, hence the name "Longcheng." On this wave-cut platform, various sizes of tofu rock and over a hundred potholes of different sizes can be found, making it one of the largest and most organized groups of potholes in Penghu. There is a viewing platform where visitors can observe the stone lion on the right and Longcheng on the left, enjoying the dynamic geological landscape. Next to the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several stalls and grocery stores selling ice products and local specialties. Walking along the alley behind, visitors can admire the stone lion from different angles, and by descending the steps, there is a viewing platform where you can closely observe both the stone lion and Longcheng. [Suggested duration of stay] 0.5 hours.
