Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
The Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area is located at the seaside of the mountain-top settlement in Zhonghe Village. The Qimei Coastal area features stunning basalt sea erosion formations; this stretch of coastline is marked by continuous columns of basalt cliffs. The "Dashi" within the scenic area resembles a gigantic basalt structure standing like a lion in the sea, which is a result of the radial columnar basalt undergoing sea erosion. Next to the stone lion, there is a unique sight formed by volcanic breccia, which exhibits obvious folds and distinct bending structures, taking the shape of a gigantic dragon that winds and rolls on the sea surface, hence the name "Longcheng." On this erosion platform, there are various sizes of tofu rocks and over a hundred rock pools, making it one of the larger and more neatly arranged groups of rock pools in Penghu. There is a viewing platform where visitors can look right to see the stone lion and left to view Longcheng, allowing appreciation of the spectacular and varied geological landscape. Nearby the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several vendors and shops selling ice products and local specialties. Following the alley behind, one can walk along the road to view the stone lion from different angles and distances. Descending the stairs leads to a viewing platform for close-up observation of the stone lion and Longcheng. [Recommended Stay Time] 0.5 hours
