Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area Introduction
The Dashi Longcheng Scenic Area is located by the seaside at the edge of the Shanzhong Village mountain settlement. The Qimei Coast features spectacular basalt erosion, with a continuous coastline of columnar basalt cliffs. The "Dashi" within the scenic area resembles a giant basalt rock that stands like a lion in the sea, which is a result of radial columnar basalt shaped by coastal erosion. Next to the stone lion is another remarkable sight, a piece of volcanic breccia that exhibits distinct folds and, due to compression, has notable bending structures, resembling a giant dragon twisting and turning upon the sea, hence the name "Longcheng." On this wave-cut platform, there are various sizes of tofu rocks and over a hundred pit formations, making it one of the largest and most organized clusters of pits in Penghu. An observation deck is available, allowing visitors to view the Stone Lion on the right and Longcheng on the left, where they can appreciate the spectacular and diverse geological landscape. Next to the Dashi Scenic Area, there are several vendors and grocery stores selling ice products and local specialties. By following the alley behind them, visitors can enjoy views of the Stone Lion from different angles, and descending the stairs leads to a viewing platform for a closer look at the Stone Lion and Longcheng. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours
