Lantau Rural Life Museum Introduction
The museum is located within the Elderly Welfare Activity Center. Currently, the first floor of the activity center serves as an auditorium, providing a space for residents to engage in leisure activities such as karaoke. Additionally, it includes a gym and meeting rooms, making it a multifunctional activity center. The exhibition hall is located on the second floor, and its focus is to showcase "how the residents of Qimei Island have effectively utilized local resources to cope with their daily needs in a harsh natural environment over the years." It addresses various aspects such as cooking utensils, tableware, food, clothing, architecture, settlements and living spaces, local culture and history, folk festivals, and Qimei herbal plants. The goal is not only to establish culture as a cornerstone of tourism to revitalize the local economy but also to preserve and promote traditional culture through the museum, becoming an excellent site for environmental education, enhancing the cultural awareness of residents, enriching Qimei's tourism resources, and forming a local cultural industry, thus serving as a cultural hub for community life and interactions. The museum includes spaces such as exhibition rooms, a digital experience area, and a DIY creation zone. After its opening, it will showcase a series of artifacts from the Yashi culture, tiles from the Japanese colonial period, and children's toys, highlighting the characteristics of ancient artifacts in Taiwan. Additionally, the museum is equipped with computers, providing the public with internet access to search for domestic and international information and events. In the future, it aims to integrate the cultural characteristics of Qimei with its role as a tourism center. [Recommended stay time] 1 hour.
