Luoshan Recreation Area is renowned for its mud volcanic landscapes, handmade tofu, and Luoshan Waterfall. Looking west, the picturesque rural scenery of Luoshan Organic Village in the Hualien-Taitung Valley is laid out before you. The nearby mud volcano is locally known as "Yanping." The mud that erupts from it contains gas and has a salty taste. Hence, the residents of Luoshan Village have long known how to collect the gas from the mud volcano to use as fuel for boiling water and cooking.
