White Lighthouse Introduction
The White Lighthouse is located on the southern side of Liuqiu Island, at the top of the rocky reef on the western side, and is known as an international lighthouse, also referred to as the "White Light Tower." Built in 1929, the base to the top of the tower is about 10 meters, with a height of 88 meters from the horizontal plane to the top. It is equipped with an automatic flashing light device that operates day and night, serving as a guiding signal for fishing boats just like the Eluanbi Lighthouse in Kenting National Park. For those who enjoy observing fireflies, this area is very suitable for firefly watching from the spring equinox to the end of autumn. As night falls, the grassy mounds on both sides of the lighthouse road are filled with twinkling lights, illuminating the night sky as male and female Taiwanese fireflies flit about, lighting up the tranquil midsummer evening. Meanwhile, the elegant Sphenomorphus orlovi and the brown tiger lizards compete for space as they cling to the roots of nearby banyan trees, sleeping contentedly in a display of their remarkable skills, which is sure to bring a smile to anyone who sees them.
