Biyun Temple Introduction
Bi Yun Temple is the religious center of the residents of Xiao Liuqiu! Located in the center of Liuqiu Island, it was built in 1736 and has a history of over 200 years. The temple is dedicated to Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The people of Xiao Liuqiu rely on Guanyin for various aspects of their lives, including marriage, funeral rites, selecting auspicious dates, celebrating births, seeking romantic partnerships, consulting on illnesses, and wishing for bountiful catches from fishing trips. Life events, joys, and sorrows are all connected to Guanyin. For both big and small matters, residents come to draw lots and seek guidance from the deities, making the temple a spiritual refuge for the community. In 1980, the late President Chiang Ching-kuo visited this temple and donated 1000 NTD for incense offerings, allowing the temple's fame to spread throughout Taiwan! Below Bi Yun Temple, there is a wooden plank road that offers a view of the bamboo forest ecosystem. Walking through it, sunlight filters through the trees, creating a refreshing ambiance. At night, soft lights illuminate the bamboo groves, and the soothing sound of flowing water harmonizes with the rustling of leaves and the croaking of frogs.
