Biyun Temple Introduction
Biyun Temple is the spiritual center of the residents of Little Liuqiu! Located in the heart of Liuqiu Island, it was built in 1736 and has a history of over 200 years. The temple is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the residents of Little Liuqiu come here for various life events, including marriage, funerals, auspicious dates, celebrations, seeking love, inquiring about illnesses, and praying for abundant catches on fishing boats. The connection with Guanyin Bodhisattva is essential in their lives, encompassing joys, sorrows, and everyday matters. Residents frequently visit the temple to draw lots and seek divine guidance, making it a significant spiritual support for the community. In 1980, the late President Chiang Ching-kuo visited the temple and donated NT$1,000 as offering money, which helped enhance the temple's fame throughout Taiwan! Below Biyun Temple, there is a wooden pathway where visitors can enjoy the bamboo forest ecosystem. Strolling along the path, sunlight streams through the gaps in the trees, creating a refreshing atmosphere. At night, the gentle lighting reflects on the bamboo, accompanied by the sound of flowing water and the rustling of bamboo swaying in the wind, mingled with the croaking of frogs.
