Biodiversity Research Institute Conservation Education Center Introduction
Jiji Township is home to a treasure, the "Biodiversity Research Institute." In order to promote local ecological education in Taiwan, the Biodiversity Research Institute features a static exhibition called the "Conservation Education Center," which provides detailed information about Taiwan's ecosystems, endemic flora and fauna, and environmental conservation issues, and hosts various themed exhibitions from time to time. The education center has guided interpreters who explain conservation concepts in an accessible manner, helping the public gain a deeper understanding. Additionally, it offers services such as ecological film screenings, multimedia resources, conservation literature, and information. It is one of the important places for conservation education in our country. Outside the center, there is a large ecological education park planted with various plants and a butterfly garden. The ecological education park deliberately creates a forest-like environment to attract birds and insects to reside there. Within the park, there is also an aquatic plant ecological pond; after a stroll, visitors can sit in the pavilion and enjoy the sight of flocks of mallards swimming around, feeling as if they are in a jungle. Here, one can gain intellectual insights while also alleviating stress. Moreover, the conservation center has a wildlife rescue station, which has rescued more than 3,000 wild animals since 2000, and there are raptors being cared for in the education park. A walk along the ecological trail provides an opportunity to get up close and personal with these rare birds that are usually hard to see!
