Biodiversity Research Institute Conservation Education Center Introduction
Jiji Township is home to a treasure known as the "Biodiversity Research Institute." To promote local ecological education in Taiwan, the Biodiversity Research Institute features a "Conservation Education Center" with static displays that detail Taiwan's ecosystems, unique flora and fauna, and environmental conservation issues. The center regularly hosts various themed exhibitions and has interpreters available to help visitors better understand conservation concepts in an accessible manner. Additionally, it offers services such as ecological video screenings, multimedia presentations, and a collection of conservation literature and resources, making it one of the important venues for conservation education in the country. Outside the center, there is a large ecological education garden planted with various species and a butterfly garden. The ecological education area is intentionally designed to mimic a forest environment to attract birds and insects to inhabit the area. Within the garden, there is also an aquatic plant ecological pond where visitors can relax in a pavilion and enjoy watching a flock of green-headed ducks swim by, creating a feeling of being in the jungle. Here, one can gain intellectual insights while also alleviating stress and tension. Moreover, the conservation center is equipped with a wildlife rescue station, which has rescued over 3,000 wild animals since 2000. In the education garden, there are raptors undergoing rehabilitation. A stroll along the ecological trail provides a chance to get up close and personal with these precious birds that are usually hard to see!
