Biodiversity Research Institute Conservation Education Center Introduction
In Jiji Township, there is a treasure known as the "Biodiversity Research Institute." To promote local ecological education in Taiwan, the Biodiversity Research Institute features a static exhibition hall called the "Conservation Education Center," which provides detailed information about Taiwan's ecosystems, endemic flora and fauna, and environmental conservation issues. The center regularly holds various themed exhibitions and has interpreters available to help the public better understand conservation concepts in an accessible manner. Additionally, it offers services such as ecological film screenings, multimedia presentations, conservation literature, and research materials, making it one of the important locations for conservation education in the country. Outside the center, there is a large ecological education park planted with various plants and a butterfly ecology garden. The ecological education park intentionally creates a forest-like environment to attract birds and insects to reside there. Inside the park, there is also an aquatic plant ecological pond where, after a long walk, visitors can sit in the pavilion and enjoy watching groups of mallards swimming around, almost as if they are in a jungle. Here, one can not only gain intellectual enrichment but also relieve stress and relax. Moreover, the conservation center is equipped with a wildlife rescue station, which has rescued over 3,000 wild animals since 2000. Within the educational park, some birds of prey are currently undergoing rehabilitation. A walk on the ecological trail allows visitors to get up close and personal with these rare birds that are not easily seen in everyday life!
