Ita Thao Visitor Center Introduction
The Ita Thao Visitor Center is located in front of the Ita Thao Pier, making it a necessary stop for those boarding boats. The building has the appearance of a large yacht and was opened in 2011, with renovations completed in 2023. The first floor features a ticketing area for boats, a specialty product store, an emergency medical station, public restrooms, and a nursing room, with a small car parking lot outside the building. The second floor houses the management office and the visitor center. The visitor center offers various convenient services, including travel consultation, brochures, mobile power bank rentals, a Muslim prayer room, and is an excellent spot for enjoying the lake view. Landscape art installation: Nesting Project II The Green-backed Tit, a subspecies native to Taiwan, inhabits mid to high-altitude mountainous areas and is named for its yellow-green back feathers. They can also be spotted at Sun Moon Lake. Every spring, Green-backed Tits seek crevices in cliffs and tree holes to build their nests, weaving bowl-shaped nests from materials such as moss, pine needles, animal hair, bark, and leaves. Taiwanese artist Fan Cheng-Tsung's Nesting Project draws inspiration from nature's animal architects. This time, his work at Sun Moon Lake pays attention to the nesting behaviors of the Green-backed Tit, interpreting their nesting process and methods using human wooden rope construction techniques, creating a small resting nest for travelers disembarking at the Ita Thao Pier. The elegant lake surface and majestic mountains echo each other, making Sun Moon Lake worth a visit. Real-time information for the Ita Thao Visitor Center parking lot.
