Tea and Beverage Crop Improvement Station, Council of Agriculture Introduction
Located on the northern side of Sun Moon Lake, Mao Li Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,020 meters, making it an ideal spot to overlook the entire scenery of Sun Moon Lake and watch the sunrise. Enter from the Ming Tan Junior High School next to Highway 21, where tea trees are planted along both sides of the mountain road, providing a refreshing green view. On the right side at the entrance, there are several old wooden Japanese-style houses, which are historical buildings designated by the county government, leaving a strong impression with their rustic appearance. Next to them is a newly built Tea Culture Exhibition Hall, showcasing various information related to tea. Additionally, the valley slope on the left side of the old tea factory, densely covered with tea trees, offers a charming view, and on clear days, the mountain scenery of Yuchi can even be seen. After passing the old tea factory, a row of robust Ceylon olive trees lines the roadside, with red dried leaves covering the ground, creating a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, making it a popular spot for newlyweds to take wedding photos. The weather station atop Mao Li Mountain is one of Taiwan's four high-altitude weather stations, the others being Yushan, Alishan, and Yangmingshan Zhuzihu. The weather station is usually open to the public and has a resting pavilion for visitors to enjoy the expansive views and beautiful environment. ❗️Please note that the restrooms and viewing platform at the mountaintop station will be closed on weekends and national holidays starting April 1, 2025, due to ongoing construction and business adjustments at the weather station, and we appreciate your understanding❗️*In response to the renaming of the Tea Improvement Station to 'Tea and Beverage Crop Improvement Station,' the research scope has expanded (with no increase in staff), and starting April 1, 2015, the Tea Improvement Station and its branches will no longer accept visits arranged by travel agencies for domestic and international visitors.* *For those wishing to visit the Tea Industry Improvement Station, please contact the person in charge two weeks prior to the desired visit date.
