Shuili Snake Kiln Introduction
Shueili Snake Kiln, located in Shueili Township, Nantou County, was established in 1927 and is one of the most well-preserved and oldest wood-fired kilns in Taiwan. The kiln's body stretches 31 meters in length, winding like a snake, and was an important site for firing everyday pottery in the early days. The park integrates traditional pottery art with tourism and leisure; visitors can tour the ancient kiln and museum to appreciate the history of Nantou pottery, and also personally experience pottery-wheel throwing, hand-building, and painting. The on-site Taolin Art Gallery regularly exhibits works by domestic and international ceramic artists, and offers distinctive souvenirs and pottery-themed dining, fulfilling the experience of "appreciating clay, playing with clay, and tasting clay." The annual Kiln God Festival is a major local event that combines performances, craft markets, and blessing ceremonies, showcasing the cultural charm and vitality of this century-old kiln site.
