Shuili Snake Kiln Introduction
Shueili Snake Kiln, located in Shueili Township, Nantou County, was established in 1927 and is one of the best-preserved and oldest wood-fired kilns in Taiwan. The kiln's body stretches 31 meters in length, winding like a snake, and it was an important site for firing everyday pottery in earlier times. The park integrates traditional pottery art with tourism and leisure, allowing visitors to tour the ancient kiln and museum to appreciate the development history of Nantou pottery. Visitors can also personally experience the joys of throwing, hand-building, and painting pottery. The on-site Taolin Art Gallery regularly showcases works by domestic and international ceramic artists and offers unique souvenirs and pottery-themed dining, fulfilling the experience of “appreciating clay, playing with clay, and tasting clay.” The annual Kiln God Festival is a major local event that combines performances, craft markets, and blessing ceremonies, showcasing the cultural charm and vitality of this century-old kiln.
