Longzatou Introduction
Near the Yuanquan to Shuimen area, looking out towards the Bagua Mountain range, one can see a prominent hill, strikingly handsome and with distinct valley folds, known as "Longzitou." The standing of Longzitou contrasts beautifully with the nearby flat fields and winding streams. Behind Longzitou lies an area of over 90 hectares designated as the "Taiwan Macaque Protected Area" by the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan, which currently has about a hundred individuals. Note: The "Taiwan Macaque Protected Area" was officially designated in 1981 and was abolished in July 2006, reverting to managed forest land.
