Longzaitou Introduction
Near the Yuansyuan to Shuimen area, if you look out over the Bagua Mountain Range, you will see a prominent hill standing tall and elegant, with distinct valley folds, known as "Longzitou." The presence of Longzitou contrasts beautifully with the nearby flat fields and meandering streams. Behind Longzitou, there is a mountainous area of about 90 hectares, designated as the "Taiwan Macaque Protected Area" by the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, with currently around a hundred macaques. Note: The "Taiwan Macaque Protected Area" was established in 1981 but was abolished in July 2006, returning to management as a protective forest.
