Bird Watching Pavilion Trail Introduction
The Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail is a circular path built along the edge of the Dabang community, serving as a key route for the Tsou people to hunt or gather crops in the mountains, rich in wildlife. Overhead, the "divination bird," or the Pygmy Wren-Babbler, is often seen foraging. According to Tsou legend, before hunting or going to battle, tribe members would listen to the first bird call of the morning at the local pavilion; if the call was urgent, it was considered an ominous sign and advised against going out. This bird call divination ritual has long been a tradition among the Tsou people, hence the name "Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail." The trail is located at an elevation of over 1,100 meters, with lush woods flanking both sides, allowing visitors to absorb phytochemicals from the forest. The difference in elevation along the trail is minimal, and it takes about forty minutes to complete, making it suitable for family outings. Visitors can also take the opportunity to explore the nearby culturally significant Dabang "Kuba" and the mysteriously colored ritual house.
