Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail Introduction
The Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail is a circular path constructed along the edge of the Dabang Tribe, serving as an important route for the Tsou people to hunt or gather crops in the mountains, where wildlife is abundant. Overhead, the "fortune-telling bird," or the spot-breasted scimitar babbler, can often be seen foraging. According to Tsou legends, before hunting or embarking on expeditions, the tribe members would listen for the first bird call in the morning at the local pavilion. If the call is rapid, it is considered an ominous sign, and they should not go out. This practice of listening to bird calls as a form of divination has been a longstanding tradition in Tsou culture, thus the trail is named "Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail." Located at an elevation of over 1,100 meters, the trail is surrounded by lush trees and greenery, allowing visitors to absorb the forest's phytoncide. The elevation difference along the trail is minimal, and it takes about forty minutes to complete the whole trail, making it suitable for family outings. Additionally, visitors can also explore the nearby meaningful Dabang "Kuba" and the mysteriously intriguing ritual house.
