Niao Chan Pavilion Trail Introduction
The trail is currently under renovation and is expected to be closed until June 30, 2025 (tentative). The Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail forms a loop, constructed along the edge of the Dabang Village, and serves as an important route for the Tsou people to hunt or gather crops in the mountains, where wildlife is abundant. The trail is often graced by the presence of the "divination bird," the Taiwan brown flycatcher, flying around in search of food. According to Tsou legends, before hunting or going into battle, the tribe members would listen for the first bird call of the morning at the local pavilion. If the call is urgent, it is seen as an ominous sign, indicating that one should not go out. This practice of divination through bird calls has long been a tradition of the Tsou, hence the name "Niao Zhan Pavilion Trail." The trail is located at an altitude of over 1,100 meters, surrounded by lush trees and greenery. While walking along, one can absorb the phytoncides in the forest. The elevation change of the trail is not significant, and it takes about forty minutes to complete the entire walk, making it suitable for family outings. Additionally, visitors can also explore the meaningful "Kuba" in Dabang and the mysterious sacrificial house nearby.
