Niao Chan Pavilion Trail Introduction
The trail is under renovation and is expected to be closed until June 30, 2025 (tentative). The Niaozhanting Trail is a circular path built along the edge of the Dabang Village, serving as a crucial route for the Tsou people to hunt or gather crops. The area is rich in wildlife. It is common to see the "oracle bird" (Himalayan yuhina) soaring overhead in search of food. According to Tsou legends, before hunting or going to war, the villagers would listen for the first bird call in the local pavilion at dawn. If the call is rapid, it is considered an ominous sign, indicating that they should not go out. This practice of listening to bird calls for divination has been a long-standing tradition among the Tsou, hence the name "Niaozhanting Trail." The trail is located at an altitude of over 1,100 meters, with lush forests on both sides, allowing visitors to enjoy the fresh air of the woods. The trail has minimal elevation changes and takes about forty minutes to complete, making it suitable for family visits. Nearby, you can also explore the significant Dabang "Kuba" and the mysterious ritual house.
