Mihu Trail (Miyang Creek Trail) Introduction
Part of the trail (from Qiatong Pavilion to the Fushan Ancient Trail section) is closed, with the closure expected to last until the end of 2026. For safety reasons, please do not enter the closed section. Originally known as the Miyangxi Trail, it is approximately 2.3 kilometers long and winds along the banks of the Miyang River. The cheerful Tsou villagers named it "Mihuhu Trail," playing on the sounds of "mi" and "hu" (bottom). The trail features multiple pavilions where one can sit and listen to the gentle flow of the stream during the rainy season, providing a very refreshing experience. Even in the dry season, the bamboo forest trail remains shaded, allowing for a comfortable and brisk walk. The northern exit is located at the 66k mark on Provincial Highway 18, which offers beautiful scenery and includes a parking lot and restrooms. The southern exit is opposite the Alishan Township Office, near the "Shouquan," which is said to be the place where spring water first emerged. Alternatively, one can walk towards the Rimi Suspension Bridge and continue straight to reach the Fushan Ancient Trail. A beautiful and elegant Miyang Suspension Bridge stretches lazily over the valley, while the trail beckons gently on the other side, as if tree fairies or flower sprites might dance out at any moment. Along the way, there are numerous plum trees, offering the crisp and tangy flavor of plums, which is truly refreshing. At the junction with the Fushan Ancient Trail, one can easily spot the life bean, symbolizing the Tsou tribe's reproduction and love. Moreover, this is an excellent trail for bird watching, where one can spot species such as bush warblers, white-eared sibias, red-headed mountain birds, and multicolored birds. Friendly facilities: Accessible restroom (next to the parking lot) ■ Restroom opening hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
