Mihu Trail (Miyangxi Trail) Introduction
Some sections (from the Qiadong Pavilion to the Fushan Ancient Trail) are closed, with the closure expected to last until the end of 2026. For safety reasons, please do not enter the closed sections. Formerly known as the Miyangxi Trail, it is approximately 2.3 kilometers long, winding along the banks of the Miyang River. The cheerful Tsou villagers named it "Mihou Trail," playing on the sounds of "rice" and "lake." There are several pavilions along the trail where visitors can sit and listen to the gentle sound of the stream during the rainy season, offering a refreshing experience. Even during the dry season, the bamboo forest trail is filled with shade, providing a relaxed and smooth walk. The northern exit is located at the 66k mark on Taiwan Provincial Highway 18, featuring beautiful scenery along with a parking lot and restrooms. The southern exit is across from the Alishan Township Office, near which is "Shouquan," a place believed to be where spring water first emerged. Alternatively, one can continue straight to the Leimi Suspension Bridge, which leads to the Fushan Ancient Trail. A beautiful and elegant Miyang Suspension Bridge stretches lazily over the gorge, with the trail gently beckoning at the other end, as if tree fairies and flower spirits might dance out at any moment. Along the way, there are also many plum trees, offering a crisp and tangy taste that is truly refreshing. At the intersection with the Fushan Ancient Trail, one can easily spot the life beans that symbolize the reproduction and love of the Tsou people. Additionally, this trail is an excellent spot for birdwatching, attracting species such as the bush warbler, white-eared sibia, red-headed bulbul, and golden-fronted green pigeon. Friendly facilities: accessible restroom (next to the parking lot) ■ Restroom hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
