Mihu Trail (Miyang Creek Trail) Introduction
Originally named Miyan Stream Trail, it is approximately 2.3 kilometers long and meanders along the banks of Miyan Stream. The cheerful Tsou villagers named it "Mihu Trail" based on the phonetic similarity to "米" (rice) and "湖" (lake). The trail features several pavilions where visitors can take a brief rest during the rainy season and listen to the gentle sound of flowing water, which is quite refreshing. Even during the dry season, the bamboo forest along the trail provides plenty of shade, making it a pleasant walk. The northern exit is located at the 66k mark on Provincial Highway 18, offering beautiful scenery, along with a parking lot and restrooms. The southern exit is across from the Alishan Township Office, near "Shouquan," which is said to be an area where springs once emerged. Visitors can also continue towards the Leimi Suspension Bridge and proceed to the Fushan Ancient Trail. A beautiful and elegant Miyan Suspension Bridge stretches languidly over the canyon, with the trail gently beckoning at the other end, as if tree fairies or flower sprites might dance out at any moment. Along the way, there are numerous plum trees, offering a crisp and tangy plum flavor that is truly refreshing. At the junction with Fushan Ancient Trail, you can easily spot the life bean, a symbol of Tsou culture representing reproduction and love. Additionally, this is a great trail for bird watching, with species such as bush warblers, white-eared sibias, brown-headed thrushes, and colorful birds. Friendly facilities include: accessible restrooms (next to the parking lot). ■ Restroom opening hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
