Mihou Trail (Miyangxi Trail) Introduction
Originally known as the Miyangxi Trail, it is approximately 2.3 kilometers long, winding along the banks of the Miyang River. The cheerful Tsou tribe villagers named it "Mihu Trail," playing off the sounds of "mi" and "hu" (which means "lake" in Tsou language). The trail features multiple pavilions where visitors can sit and listen to the gentle flowing of the stream during the rainy season, providing a refreshing experience; during the dry season, the bamboo forest trail also offers ample shade for a relaxing walk. The northern exit is located at kilometer 66 on County Highway 18, known for its beautiful scenery, and features a parking lot and restrooms. The southern exit is across from the Alishan Township Office, near the "Beast Spring," which is said to be an early water source; visitors can also proceed to the Lemi Suspension Bridge and continue straight to connect with the Fushan Ancient Trail. A beautiful and elegant Miyang Suspension Bridge stretches across the gorge, while the trail gently beckons at the other end, as if tree fairies and flower spirits might dance out at any moment. Along the way, there are many plum trees with crisp and tangy plums, providing a refreshing treat. At the intersection with the Fushan Ancient Trail, you may spot the life bean, symbolizing the Tsou tribe's vitality and love. Additionally, this is an excellent trail for birdwatching, home to various birds such as bush warblers, white-eared sibias, Himalayan redstarts, and multi-colored birds. Friendly facilities include accessible restrooms (next to the parking lot). ■ Restroom hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
