Mihu Trail (Miyang Stream Trail) Introduction
Originally called the Miyang Creek Trail, it stretches approximately 2.3 kilometers along the banks of Miyang Creek. The cheerful Tsou villagers coined the name "Mihu Trail" as a play on the words for "rice" and "lake." The trail features several pavilions, where visitors can sit during the rainy season to listen to the babbling creek, providing a refreshing experience. Even outside the rainy season, the bamboo forest trail offers plenty of shade, making for a comfortable and pleasant walk. The northern exit is located at kilometer 66 on Provincial Highway 18, offering beautiful views and equipped with a parking lot and restrooms; the southern exit is opposite the Alishan Township Office, with the nearby "Shouquan" believed to be the original spring water source, or one can continue to the Leimi Suspension Bridge and then directly to the Fushan Historic Trail. A beautiful and elegant Miyang Suspension Bridge stretches lazily over the valley, and the trail gently beckons from the other end, as if tree spirits and flower fairies might dance out at any moment. Along the way, there are many plum trees, and the crisp, tart taste of plums is truly refreshing. At the junction with the Fushan Historic Trail, the life beans that symbolize the reproduction and love of the Tsou people can be easily spotted. Additionally, this is an excellent trail for birdwatching, with species like the bush robin, white-eared bulbul, Taiwan whistling thrush, and the five-colored bird. Friendly facilities: Accessible restroom (beside the parking lot) ■ Restroom hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
