Fengliu Cave Trail Introduction
This north-south trail roughly parallels the "Wuzhna River." The name "Blue Tribe" in Lijia is said to be related to this light blue stream. Starting from the trailhead at one end of the settlement, you will walk along a flat and gentle path. After crossing an arch bridge, you enter an area with heavier humidity. On a platform reached first, there is a stone table and three small standing stones, which were originally a gathering place for the tribe members to share a fire pit. However, it is rumored that over 300 years ago, a young man hunted a wild boar and selfishly hid here to enjoy it alone, only to be discovered by the elders and beaten at the men's gathering place. To remember this lesson, the fire pit was later renamed "The Stone of No Sharing." Continuing on, passing through a bamboo forest and following the sound of flowing water, you arrive at "Secret Valley Waterfall," where you can enjoy the refreshing negative ions that soothe body and mind. Not far away are "Windy Cave" and "Haunted House," where couples in love could make romantic vows under the witness of the spirits in the Haunted House, which, in the Tsou language, shares the same term for "god" and "ghost." It is said that underneath the huge rock of the Haunted House resides the most powerful deity, who protects the Lijia Tribe. After experiencing the sacred hidden realm, you will climb a steep wooden staircase to reach the northern entrance next to County Road 169, where you can also visit the "Offering Stone," where tribe members pray for blessings from the earth god. The Windy Cave Trail (Haunted House section) is closed for construction, expected to remain closed until March 31, 2026 (tentative).
